Stoked to get an email that the monthly cost for my 200/100 line is dropping by R300, which is substantial.
Also paying for in laws fibre and they getting a speed bump from 10/10 to 25/25 for the same price.

Thanks for some good news today CISP

I have the standard free Archer C20 router and I'm getting bumped up to 100Mbps. This router does support 100Mbps but will it limit me to less than I could get with a Gigabit router?

@PBCool I knew you guys would come through. Glad to be getting the upgrade to 200mb from 100mb and the bump to 100mb for my uploads will be most welcome as a YouTube content creator

I also got the email and thanks for the price decrease for the 200mb package! Just one thing that I noticed, the 100mb package has an upload specified of 25mb. I hope that it's a typo, because otherwise that is a serious downgrade for 100mb users

If it is a typo, as I might just consider downgrading then to save the extra R200 a month, but will enjoy the 200mb once those upgrades come through :D

Also saw that and figured it MUST be a typo... surely

No, it should be fine on 100Mbps, a Gigabit capable router will still give you 100Mbps.

Hmm, the email that went out showed this, where is this typo, on the product selection page ?

And before anyone asks, it doesn't seem likely that we'll provide free gigabit routers for free upgrades, but there will be an announcement about it soon.

Very nice to see

BTW do you guys have revised pricing on the Openserve data-only services?

No, it should be fine on 100Mbps, a Gigabit capable router will still give you 100Mbps.

Will I not get a speed slightly over 100Mbps (like 101 or something), but then the router limits it?

You might, but anything above the 100Mbps is a bonus -- so your call... Depending on Openserve's provisioning, TCP and PPPoE overhead, it's unlikely that you'll see much above 98-100Mbps, but if you do great.

I wouldn't bother counting cents in the Rand, if you get my drift.

Alright, clarified, the 100Mbps upgraded package will be 100/50 -- definately a typo.
Shew, I hope it's the same everwhere. Was gonna downgrade to the new '50/25' to save costs after march but then thought 100/50 upload will help with my cloud backups and also allow two family members to stream 4k from my NAS via Plex .

Plex sharing FTW.

But I didn't read or see any of this. Don't ask don't tell....
