Openserve Lead Time

Signing up with RSAWEB was quick, chose my install date already. All under two days. Only killer is that their cap doesn't have free nightly.

Got a phone call today from Telkom, they claim they are coming on Monday to do the installation.

ETA arrived in 9 weeks and 5 days.
Installation to be done on 10 weeks exactly.

No issue with the service of the ISP pushing my order through OpenServe/Telkom but... order placed on 8 April 2016 and still waiting. Aparently (and visually) there is no last mile fibre in my area (Parkmore) even though the Telkom website showed that the area was live as of early April 2016. Have had a technician out to do the install but no fibre for him to bring in to the home.

Come on Telkom / OpenServe - PLEASE UP YOUR GAME.

I am waiting on the MTN fibre to be available for ordering as this might be available before Telkom get their act together.

If there is a Telkom rep who wishes to follow up on this they can PM me for order number detail.

So Telkom pitched up on time, installation was done within 1.5 hours. Took exactly 10 weeks to the day since order was placed. Then, the Telkom techie told me that they can do 2 installations per day per team, and in Cape Town, they have 4 teams.

So spoke to a number of Webafrica helpdesk consultants over the last couple of days, all promised to phone me back the same day. Guess what none of them did!

It's been over four weeks and finally managed to speak to a consultant who openly admitted that nothing had happened with my application as Webafrica and Openserve don't know what to do when an existing Telkom ISP fibre package is cancelled by the previous owner and a new Webafrica ISP fibre package is requested by the new owner.

They actually informed and recommended to me that it would just be easier for me to transfer the existing Telkom fibre to my name!

I'm over it! How do I get Telkom to transfer the fibre package?

I ordered through axxess and they have a dedicated opens openserve liason as far as I can tell.

Took 6 weeks including installation and setup of the ONT...

Update: Telkom have today (18 November) pulled the line into my flat, though they did not install the ONT. Now I wonder how long I will have to wait for that...

I placed the order on 12 July. It is now November and I'm still awaiting completion...

Ordered 6th Dec 2016 via WebAfrica and have had no feedback other than they expect 4 to 10 weeks. Amazing that OpenServe does not issue a reference number with a status update or some estimation. Looks like they are quick to secure the fibre in an area (future investment) but VERY slow to link the households. Such a pity our estate chose Telkom for fibre and now we sit with the worse service possible.

Try to get confirmation from WA about the order.

When I phoned them the first time to find out, the order hadn't even been placed yet because apparently Telkom's online application system doesn't make accommodation for units within a complex. And they just left it.

I'm stilling waiting and I've applied in late Dec. Someone else in my complex applied 21 Dec and he is done, dusted and installed !
Maybe he caught a decent OpenServe agent ! :P
