In the light of the Openserve Temp Speed Upgrades - thought I'll open a thread for tracking of areas that have received their upgrades.

Edit: Fibre and ADSL

For ADSL, this is a marketing gimmick.
ADSL is an "up to" and "best effort" product.
Pay for "up to" 8Mbps, but due to attenuation the SNR was too high to allow more than 5Mbps.
How they going to speed up the 5Mbps?

FYI:Telkom was happy to get paid for 8Mbps.

Mine has arrived :D

2.2StatusUp
2.3Uptime0 days 7 hours 40 mins 27 secs
2.4Line Rate (Down / Up)2559 kbps / 509 kbps
2.5Noise Margin (Down / Up)35.3 dB / 27.8 dB
2.6Attenuation (Down / Up)9 dB / 3.2 dB
2.7Power (Down / Up)0 dBm / 12.6 dBm

Also still waiting for Temp Speed Upgrades in Lyttelton, Centurion, on a relatively new Openserve fibre network, which was installed in September 2019.

I'd recommend rebooting your Fibre ONT box and also your router. Switch them both off. Switch on the ONT and wait for the optical light to come on. Switch on your router and hopefully the upgrade takes place

What "up to" ADSL package are your on?
Is it a 4Mbps?

If Openserve upgrades you to 10Mbps, I think you will still only get 2559 kbps / 509 kbps.

That looks like 2Mbps adsl line on interleaved mode

Thanks to GRANTDUKE for the tip.

I have rebooted all devices and now I am on the Upgraded network speed.

Those stats look very good. 40mbps/3mbps should be possible.

My upgrade was done earlier. Just saw downloads going faster and i ran a speed test. I didn't reset any of the equipment.

Curiously my 20MB VDSL line is ducked and syncing at 12mb down with 512k up instead of 20/5.

I can only think these idiots don’t have the capacity to handle these upgrades and so legitimate paying customers are getting screwed.

****

And I should add this is a line that can sync just under 40MB normally.
