opensuse 11.2 not mountin all discs

i have a wierd problem i have a couple of mp3 cd's and data dvds when i put the dvd into the drive , device notifier picks it up but does non of the options work . the mp3 cds are not detected at all . When i boot into windows xp all the discs work so i know its not the drive thats faulty .
is there some setting i am missing thanx

Have you downloaded and installed xine from the packman repository?

i do have xine all my media plays by the way what i am saying is that if i put a cd into the drive a data cd opensuse does not mount it so i cannot view the contents of the cd but if i load the same cd when i am in windows windows picks it up

you could try mount /dev/dvd /media/dvd in terminal. Maybe this isn't the answer you want, but you can then test the dvd player.
If the problem only exists with mp3, then install vlc from packman

Open a terminal. Then before you insert the DVD/CD, execute the following command:

sudo tail -f /var/log/messages

Insert the DVD/CD and watch the messages that are displayed. If possible, post the messages here.
