Received an emailing stating this:

So at 0.60c per GB, 300GB would cost 180c, which is R1.80.

Later in the email though:

Suddenly now its R180 for 300GB.

0.60c is not 60c, because 0.60 does not equal 60.

Uhm. 0.60c refers to R0.60c, iow 60c.

I wouldn't blame your maths teacher though.
You can force a horse to go to the water, but you can't force it to drink it.

Still wouldn't buy - it'll be shared with a thousand other people.

I was waiting for that :D

Whilst that is true technically,it's a common enough mistake for it to be accepted and understood

This is just being pedantic for the sake of it,2/10
Bull****.

The OP is 100% correct. OpenWeb either needs to adjust their pricing accordingly or get sued.

They promised it at 0.60 cents. End of story.

Nonsense, it’s about being correct.

How about every who falsely accused the OP go and reverse their statements as they are actually the stupid ones instead of writing it off as “common enough and accepted and understood” which it actually isn’t.

I want to see you tell an accountant that. Even excel will tell you to **** off.
Actually my excel uses . for decimals but cool story bro

Don't get so worked up about being a minority. Go ahead and google how often the two are mixed up

And accountants? I believe you just proved the 'pedantic' quite correct so thanks :)

Same. Only old people still use a comma as a decimal separator. The accepted universal standard is a full stop.

I remember us using a comma at primary school, and then somewhere in high school we started using a full stop.

. and , are different.

OP used a "." indicating R0.60

They are different but don’t change he maths.

The problem is using c instead of R, not so much the decimal syntax.

The maths work fine either way.

Sure, but if you change it to a comma his maths will still work correctly so he isn’t wrong.

Just because they are often mixed up doesn’t make him any less correct.

Other people being continually wrong doesn’t make it acceptable.

“Refers” my ass.

There was no R therefore it doesn’t refer to anything and you can’t just make your own assumptions.

0,60c is 6/10th of 1c.

Noting less, nothing more.

They ducked it up by using incorrect syntax.
