OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

I see all tickets have been responded to.

This weekend saw no general issues. There were however 104 SAIX / Telkom network notices open all over the country.

If you are experiencing an issue, kindly email [email protected] so that it can be investigated

MrBeep is there anywhere to check these problems cause maybe that would explain why my internert just died on sunday and a couple of buddies also on different ISP had the same issue

Ya Please mr Beep, cause if there is an issue and we can see whats cooking then maybe your support team would not get bombarded with issues, cause think about it we never see that our area has an issue support tells us our account is fine, so we get into a bun fight with support, in the mean time if we saw the telkom issue we could understand and be more chilled about it

Need to add that internet was slow at times over the weekend. had some major buffering and general slow periods over the weeknd. However last night improved to normal quality.

I absolutely agree with you.

Anyone here on the Titan Uncapped packages? Is browsing usable during the day?

MrBEEP, *which is the OW package that is closest to the Afrihost business uncapped (and unshaped) @ R679?

350-500 ping in League of Legends. Normally get 170 - 250 during peak hours...

May I add to that please ... It would also be the one that is unshaped daytime or with low contention ratio.
If I can get some better daytime browsing bandwidth, I would go for that too.

I know there are a host of OW Gold packages - but I am not sure which one is similar to the AH package mentioned above.

Thanks.

I don't really see what the issue is regarding the number of different packages available. Sure it would make things easier for some people but it would also take a lot of choice away from those who want it and OpenWeb would lose something that gives them something over the competitors.

There are plenty of ISPs out there with simplified offerings, I'm glad we have an ISP that offers something different.

Thanks, but effectively as consumers we just need to believe that is the case? There is no reference to various contention ratios and priorities that I can find so there would be no come back if I felt I wasn't getting what promised.

This is in line with what I was asking a page back. Are we going to get any answers or not as to how Gold is better?

It's confusing when non-Gold accounts outperform Gold accounts during hours, and when Gold accounts are shaped during hours, which is perhaps the most consistent complaint in this thread.

We are justified in asking for better-than-product-marketing answers, given the above inconsistencies.

The problem is not with the number of packages but rather that there are many with much the same name but very little reference to how they actually differ. One assumes they differ as they are being sold a widely different prices.

Many of them refer to different contention ratios and that is it, no detailed explanation. The numerous gold packages are a prime example. How do we know it isn't merely the same package being sold at a higher price. Many are shown as limited edition specials which just enhances this scepticism. I'll happily pay more if I am assured of getting more but just paying more based on the principle that you get what you pay for, with no actual evidence, doesn't work for me.

The rule of thumb is, the more you pay, the more you get.

The more an account costs, the less people you will be sharing capacity with, the better your overall performance will be (account side).

Anything up with interwebz today/last night?

I put a 500 mg file on to download this morning and when I came home it was on 68% on my 10mbps line :(

And I just spoke to my GF and she said that some files she started to download last night was not done this morning.

So yes, the internet has been working great but the downloads are sooo slooow
