OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Now 23:00 and struggling with lag on international servers (simple minecraft just fails and is unplayable). If it is Mac and Window update silly season, better get over it ASAP. Day and night currently useless. :wtf:

Hi Adam,

Shaping was not applied to such levels.

If this continues, please can you contact us. I would like the guys to take a look for you.

When your whatsapps dont go through you must know how bad you are being shaped almost feels like throttling. I was about to throw the router at the wall due to frustration even tho that will get me nowhere.

Hi Sharky,

Please drop us a support mail: [email protected]

I would like the guys to test the account for you

I am so sorry you are experiencing an issue.

Awww, thank you so much for the kind words!

It means the world to us!

I have been with Openweb for about a month now and can only praise them.

Look, we had our difficulties at first, but it turned out it was my fault in the end,

*blush*

Good morning cableguy

Please don't forget to ask Leon for his comments where we ended off last night.

1. We are not monitoring usage. We are looking at two sessions for one account from different locations.

2. Why a new account was given, when it was a password change which was asked for?

Leon's answers, please?

Warped Universe?

When I ordered my new account about a year ago, and the first thing I did was log onto http://users.isdsl.net/ (interestingly one can also check on http://userstats.adsl.saix.net/ albiet with less info). I saw that there was already an active session and since the day before I had received my account details.

I went ahead and connected with my new account and saw my session appear on the IS stats. After a few days I decided to change the (weak) password, and had to do it through a PM. The other session disappeared the next day and only reappeared about two weeks later...

I didn't have speed issues till a few months later. But the speed issues are only related to daytime speeds. I have been through multiple account changes and settled on a mediocre 'combo'. I now use an account with IS routing during the evenings — which is also the only time during which I queue downloads. And I use a previous account that with MTN routing during the day to enable normal browsing of websites.

I don't think the multiple-sessions-showing-on-the-stats affected my evening speeds in the past, but I am currently on a single-session-showing-on-the-stats account. I normally get 930KiB/s to 950KiB/s, but the best I got in the past was 1MiB/s on a account with a username daviddevernon@xxx. In case you're wondering, no, that's not my name. I also have not tried contacting the Google search results guy, to find out if he had/has an OpenWeb account.

Im typing on my phone so bear with me.

Please only use the OpenWeb Control Panel for information relating to your account. As we do not sell the standard IS accounts information using the tools provided by anyone but OpenWeb will not apply to your account.

On a separate note, guys please enjoy your time with cableguy. I am on leave for a while to enjoy time with the family.

I moved from Afrihost, I had to adjust to the new shaping rules of use as much as you want after 6 but chill during the day because when I was with Afrihost I used to use a rate limiter and let it run all day at a low rate. When I first moved to OW using any sort of download protocol during the day made my connection unusable, even on Gold Orange. Maybe it's the way you use the line? I recall MrBEEP saying that real time protocols are never shaped unless you have excessive bandwidth over them or have other non real time services running.

Either way my time with OW is fantastic. I might give Axxess Business a chance soon because it's slightly cheaper than what I currently pay.

I got the Gold Original because people said it was the best.

I didn't get it so I could download 24/7.

The line actually stayed idle during the day while I was at work, but over and over, I would get home to a DEAD account, lights are on but nobodies home.

I email support, they say, here you go, new account.

After the 6th account, I left.

Something I found with my old OG Netgear router was that it took ages to login and connect where my free Tenda connected without problems. Issue I found was when I was looking at the logs the Tenda showed authentication failed:username or password incorrect

About 25 of these errors before it connected, it tried to connect every few seconds where my Netgear tried once and spat out a "Not connected please configure" message.

My account probably died often, the modem I have just tried to reconnect so often I don't notice it.

It wasn't my router as the account was authenticated, the internet light was on, I could tracert etc, but speedtest would give me almost zero speed. During this, all other ISP account's worked full speed, log back into OW Gold and after it connected, zero speed.

Email support, new account.

Rinse and repeat.

I am so sorry to read this!

In the past we used to dish out accounts like they were jelly tots. I see the guys have stopped doing this so freely. I would love you to test the Gold Uncapped (Original) again, even if it is just for a week. Drop me a PM and I will swing you one.

I've been getting them since I moved but it doesn't really affect me right now. If it ever does impact my ability to get online I'll he sure to do that.

No problem.

Wow, you are quick at responding.
