Well post some tracerts, speedtests, pingtests, etc. of all the ISP accounts so everyone can see where exactly the issue is.

I have being around the mill with that. There's no congestion at my exchange. I have another IS uncapped account that runs at full speed.

Hello,

I have responded to all PM's sent to me.

Point I'm trying to make is that I'd be happy to cooperate, but I'd like someone to actually talk to me about this issue first.

So far no one has responded, to my private messages or in this thread. And it is clear that this is not an issue specific to me only.

I agree.

Kindly PM me with your details so that I can test your account

Regardless of which package you're on, you shouldn't be shaped to the point where you can't browse or retrieve your email. It's basic use of internet.

I have referred several friends to OW & all of them have different accounts, the same issue at hand is the heavy handed shaping during business hours. It's totally unacceptable. Non of us signed up for an after business hours adsl account.

He might be in PE/DBN, then those pings aren't that bad.

I'm in DBN:

The important factor is consistent pings, those look all over the place.

Agreed, there seems to be slight congestion or it could be my port but the throughput discrepancy is huge.

cableguy has responded to my PM so will work from there.

Hi everyone

I made a post here a few days ago about my internet being really, REALLY slow (I have a 4Mbps Gold Orange Uncapped account and I was getting a maximum of 200kbps throughout the day).

Following Mr. Beep's advice, I contacted Telkom and logged a fault, and they replied that the problem was fixed.

Now here is the strange part: I cannot seem to get anything more than 50kpbs during NON-peak hours. My account still runs at about 200kbps during the day (it has random spikes where it increases in speed for a few minutes before dropping back down to 200kbps) but during NON-peak hours I cannot access anything.

My account used to be like everybody else's, I would have almost no connection during the day, but would run at full speed as soon as peak-time shaping was removed. It appears that I am now getting the exact opposite, which can become extremely frustrating, as I am away from home during peak hours and thus cannot benefit from my internet at all.

I have also noticed that my 300Mbps Wireless N Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router Model No. TD-W8970 router keeps dropping my internet connection at random intervals (usually while using P2P).

Like I said before, this is becoming really frustrating, so if someone here would be willing to provide me with assistance/suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!

As mentioned above, I have already contacted Mr Beep, who has informed me that my connection is running on full speed on their side.

tl;dr - internet is relatively fast during the day but drops to a crawl during non-peak hours. Router also constantly dropping internet connection - please help.

Ok there seems to be a theme here and I have to agree and join in.

My account is totally and utterly useless and pointless during business hours. I cannot game (despite supposedly having a Gaming prioritized account), I cannot browse, I cannot download. I may as well not have a connection at all. Now for someone that works an early shift a lot of my time at home is during business hours. So please give me a reason to keep my account? As right now I see none.

I called support today to try and find out if there were any actual issues on the network or if I was just being shaped to S&%#. Gentleman I spoke to was incredibly difficult to talk to number one, didn't sound like he'd taken a support call in his life, however I digress. He says he'll call me back definitely before five. At half past five my phone rings. For about ten seconds. As I answer. He hangs up. So I try phone back. But AHA! It's after hours. So no response at all. Even on his direct line. And now my connection is even more sporadic than earlier.

I really liked OpenWeb but the past few weeks seriously have me contemplating switching.
I've triple checked everything with telkom and my line provider. No issues there.

Any help? Any vague glimmer of hope?

ps - 2Mbs Gamers King uncapped account...

This sounds like a congestion issue possibly.

Run a tracert during each of these times and post the results. Sounds like there is congestion in the evenings, which area you in?

Diablo 3 is completely not working today, menu loads but as soon as you try and enter game you get a loading screen and then kicked out after a minute.

Getting 160-180 ping on average, no disconnects or kicks. Openweb 2mb Original gold uncapped.

Hey sorry for the late response, was out all day so I couldn't test. got back on now no problems but its very laggy still. I'm not on gold i'm on gamers king 4 meg, been having some issues with D3 for quite a while, some really odd problems like during business hours it works great but after 5 pm it starts to lag quite hectically.

Although speed tests are not accurate - maybe do a speed test with AH free gig and OW - as a clue. Speeds indicated by torrent clients are not a good indicator at all.
Then I agree with Dr. John - when the speed is slow tracert, and again when its faster. See which hops are the problems ....

This should give you a clue as to whether its Telkom or IS.

Also, ask Leon to test your account for a day or two again ... and he will feedback, I am sure he will gladly assist.

Without trying to be rude, and no disrespect intended - are you sure that no other devices are connected and pulling bandwidth - the reason I ask, is because I had a similar problem, only to find it was my son eating the bandwidth on steam.

Good luck
