Hmmm, so it seems I'm not alone this time around and we're all getting a crap experience. Could I encourage those who also have problems to run http://www.dslreports.com/pingtest ? The results are far more valuable than any speedtest, and I've noticed I'm only getting packet loss on about the 14th hop on Level 3 London, putting the problem pretty damn far from my house at least. It then becomes consistently lossy as it hits IS servers. So an IS issue? Does Openweb have a SAIX or Seacom backbone? Seacom might be down frequently, but it's better than this.

< 10Kbps downloads @ 9PM - you are kidding me right Openweb????

Are we heavily shaped at the moment ? If so -- WHY ???????????????????

Agreed.... there is something seriously wrong. It used to be a pleasure after mweb but I guess the party is over.
I get a full 5KB/s.......

OK, so the good news is I'm not alone then.... :(
Also getting 5-10KB/s.
It's definitely not related to my usual experience with them.

Yeah I'm going to cancel after less than 48 Hours with a 4Meg Titan account. It only runs as full line speed from about 21:00. R10 extra for a Connection account that runs 99% full tilt after 17:30 seems to be a better deal.

Maybe just wait 'til a little bit before cancelling and see what feedback we'll get.
Like I said, this is definitely not normal and I've been with them a few months.
Usually I have to actually play with my QOS settings on my router or my p2p downloads run all over my HTTP traffic.

I use it for Netflix and seldom download NNTP or P2P traffic - It is not acceptable to watch Netflix in 280p and also get buffering all the time. Luckily for Openweb they have this Month notice business so ja.

Things are very slow here too, but people need to calm down on the cancel brigade. I cancelled openweb once because I thought I would get better performance with Afrihosts business internet. I was wrong.... so wrong... at double the cost of gamers King I saw no improvement, If cableguy or MrBeep could please reassure us that there is something wrong and we are not crazy that would be great. because many of us are having a pretty bad time of it now I think, my main problem was just gaming (Diablo 3) but now other things are starting to go really slow and grind to a halt entirely like steam, torrents and email.

gettingso tired of this fight..... no gaming priority at all. whats the point of having a uncapped gold account. I change to my backup account , game loads super fast . no delays, just pure fun. Then change back to OW , then game takes 5mins to load. games super slow, no fun at @#$%*! all. What has changed since the start till now.

Ample choice of ISP these days mate, voting with my feet, that's all.

Past 2 weeks, normal http browsing during office hours, weekdays: unusable.
If OpenWeb is not AT LEAST prepared to acknowledge the problem, it is time to look for another provider.

Well, I don't see anyone who offers the same service as openweb in the specific style they do. If there is a steam sale and I want to download a few games I don't want the internet to be shaped for the entire rest of the month (MANY isps do this if you read the fair use policy) so please let me know who you use and why so I can perhaps learn some more. when openweb works it works great, It isn't often there is a big mess up like this and everyone freaks out. My only long term frustration is the gaming performance, which is an issue.

I still haven't seen anyone at Openweb give a solid reason for what is going on at the moment, I'm not even getting 1kb/s NNTP at 9:50pm on a Gamers King 10Mb account, the sooner we all get to hear what the reasons for the slow speeds are the less cancellations you will have on your hands.

Come to think of it... I haven't seen them going all ape about Unshaped weekend Friday updates, encouraging us to download etc. on their Facebook page lately.
Hmmm...

Connection. They use the WebAfrica 5-Star system. Even on 1 Star I get full speed 99% of the time on my 4Meg account after 17:30 and all weekend.

Agree with most other results posted today.

But, with that said... I think its either an IS or Telkom problem. (99% likely Telkom).

Get yourselves "Pingplotter" (standard edition under trial will work, even with annoying delay).

My first hop to exchange is 500+ ms ping right off the bat!
Been this way all day and night since Tuesday.
Also, Telkom is shifting blame on the issue. Try calling 10210 and try to report a fault (options 1, then 2).
An automated voice starts yabbing on about Eskom loadbalancing... THE FU##?!

So yeah... i tested with Telkom guest account... same results.
Tested with Afrihost 1GB account... same results.
Tested with friend's MWEB account... same results.
Swopped out router for my backup unit and repeated above tests on all 4 accounts... same results.

Therefore: Exchange problem.
Now the issue becomes: There is almost NOTHING we can do about it. Except complain. For months. And then some more.

And then MAYBE... bigass maybe... they might fix it.
