OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Maybe this has something to do with it, I am on debit order but sent the cancellation on 31st March:

8. TERMINATION OF SERVICE BY THE USER
The User may terminate the Service by giving written notice to OpenISP CC at
[email protected] or 086 691 2166 as follows:

8.1 one (1) calendar months’ notice for all Users making use of debit/credit order payment facilities,
given before the 25th day of the month before the last month for the provision of the Service (e.g. if
the User wishes the Service to terminate at the end of April, notice of termination must be given
before 25 March). Users may not downgrade their ADSL account/s during the one (1) calendar
months’ notice period. Where proper notice is given in time, OpenISP CC will issue, by email, a
cancellation reference number. Only once a cancellation reference number has been issued will the
User’s account be deemed to be cancelled.

Best move of your (digital) life?

Well yes and no... the move was to Afrihost... but they suddenly nosedived in the service department 1 month into the new business account and it has remained unusable since then, but * apparently * this will be resolved in +- 10 days and is limited to the southern parts of the country. Slower than dial-up on only this account. It worked like a Boeing and I sang their praises... was warned by PostmanPot that AH were going to have issues in the Cape and I did not believe him... I am not to partial to the taste of crow.

I have been using WebAfrica capped account and just topping up for now... and this has been without any issues at all. They are currently the best of the bunch I tested.

I used Axxes, Mweb, WebAfrica and Incredible Connect.
Surprisingly the R99 Incredible account performs better than my OW Gold did from the September to January decline, and it is R300 cheaper! I am keeping this as it is fantastic value at R99.

So, if Afrihost returns to the performance it provided in the first 30 days of me signing up, I will say yes, the 2nd best move of my digital life.

Nostalgically the best move of my digital life was from CyberSmart to OpenWeb almost 4 years ago.

EDIT:

Actually... the number 1 best move of my digital life was from iBurst 7 and a half years ago... I left them for Cybersmart. Saved me a fortune in anger management therapy.

No, this is the post of the day :D

Kindly PM me with your details so that I can look into this for you

I'm on an Original 2mb Gold uncapped account.

During the week, at 08h00, my account becomes unusable - cannot open www.google.co.za, cannot send or receive email from a local server. This continues until 17h00 when I can get my full 2mb ... until 08h00 the next morning.

This is what I bought (from http://www.openweb.co.za/go_gold_uncapped.html):

This is what I'm getting during work hours:

Rapidly running out of patience with OW. Should this "service" level continue, I'll be moving to another ISP next month.

Anyone else having problems with Usenet this evening? :erm:

Thanks for another awesome 2 days of shaping us to *****...............really epic shaping.......probably Telkom's fault you people dont have enough bandwidth or it must be the copper again that is wet............you have my username and password.......dont ask for it.

Guys I understand that shaping has to be applied during day time... but I am running a download now with 30k + seeders and its going at 8 to 20 kbps on my 10mbps line?

No man...

This is not cool! its 06:55

Anyone else having problems browsing ?
Most of the sites i try to open gives me the "this page cannot be displayed", both local and international ?

1st of the month and I am downloading a 2gig torrent at 970k/sec, as opposed to 400k last month, now you want to tell me someone is not heavily managing us from the middle of the month?

My OW account won't even sync now, just had to switch to my backup account again to post this...

@ cableguy - PM sent per request

cableguy / MrBeep, is there a way i can move to the 4mb Titan Uncapped from my 2mb Gold Uncapped for the remainder of the month, i don't mind paying the same R399 but this might be the package/move that keeps me at Openweb

yes, me too. also no international bandwith. Anyone else having connectivity problems?
Haven't done any torrenting but everything feels fine. [Silver]

Its weird that the experience differs so wildly from user to user w/ OW...

International fooked. Tried 4 different Speedtest servers (2 US, and 2 UK).
