Just for confirmation, is Youtube shaped during business hours on a Gold original account?

Mailed OW too....it looks like it is getting to be a monthly thing..when it runs it runs well but then ever so often it goes to complete and utter useless crap...local is running at full speed though:

Weird how it runs fast initially and then flatlines at dial-up speed, and it does this time after time.:crying:

Please drop me a PM so that I can look into this for you

Will PM you later when home, thanks cableguy.

Btw, still got the Mweb account running for today to see what the logs give me. My wife's at home today and haven't had a complaint yet re the daytime speed (she usually gives me stick when she can't get her youtube clips or dropbox synched), so assume its running fine on Mweb so far ;)

Now been battling to get a response to my cancellation request, start Googling around and I see that trying to cancel an Openweb account is like trying to get Zuma to admit to any fault, i.e. it ain't going to happen without a miracle.

So guess it is time to engage with the CPA to see how you can force a company to actually provide a (soon to be ex) customer service.

Sadly ... I had to bite the bullet and cancel.

Been with OW for just over a year. Had a few glitches along the way with accounts not working. The answer was always a new account. I was generally happy and the quick fix always worked.

Last month 1 March was different. The account I got was bad ... poor speeds during the day, and very erratic a/h and on weekends. I only browse / use email during the day and I get time outs on basic sites loading. The meter barely goes above 40 KB/s today, and I'm on a 2 Mbps standard account.

It's just not working for me the way it did previously.

I'm on an Original 2mb Gold uncapped account.

During the week, at 08h00, my account becomes unusable - cannot open www.google.co.za, cannot send or receive email from a local server. This continues until 17h00 when I can get my full 2mb ... until 08h00 the next morning.

This is what I bought (from http://www.openweb.co.za/go_gold_uncapped.html):
With lower contention ratios and an A-Grade network, clients can rest assured that if their Telkom line is up, their ADSL access will be available. Gold offers a 25% lower contention ratio. In simple terms, this basically means that 25% less people share the big internet pipe, thus everything, from Youtube to torrents will be much faster overall. You will just love it! Go for Gold, and unthrottle your ADSL!

This is what I'm getting during work hours:
Request timed out.
Unable to connect.
(a totally blank webpage)

Rapidly running out of patience with OW. Should this "service" level continue, I'll be moving to another ISP next month.

Eish, not looking good today at all...

This is what I bought (from http://www.openweb.co.za/go_gold_uncapped.html):

And this is the gist of it. Effectively false marketing. As I have said before, there simply is no consistency. Especially when you have cheaper accounts outperforming Gold accounts during the day.

The reasons given are always: During hours shaping, different regional load, downloads caused OW shaper to kick in, bla bla.

The solution? A new account. Which ends up failing the same way a few weeks or months down the line.

And this is all excluding the ongoing authentication problems and the 'account sharing' problems, and all the other dishonesty...

Said the same thing, i think when i stopped using my Gold Uncapped (Original) during the day i enjoyed it more as i was less frustrated. Rather make the move when you can

We can now share our experience in what will be the Days of our Lives filled cancelling process :D

Same question for you then, when did you mail them and how long after did they mail you back?

I emailed at 11:25 on 23rd Jan, they responded with a confirmation on the 23th Jan at 15:56.

EDIT: Here;

Cancellations Department, Jan 23 15:56:
