OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

MrBEEP,
Is the Gold Uncapped (Power) from 4meg capable of delivering streaming services with out issue any-time of the day?

I'm depressed with a certain ISP using MTN that has run out of IPC capacity in Cape Town/South region causing mass shaping, and watching online video in 720p impossible plus zero support. I use about 150gig/month on 4meg line.

Most of my browsing seems better today.
Youtube is still a joke.

I used to when I was with OW, to make sure my account wasn't being 'shared', as others have reported. :p

Does this mean that my account is been shared ??
I have blanked out my username

For the last 3 weeks , every tuesday my account goes into the gutter and every week i get new details and a week later same problems ... whats going on ?

Accounts aren't being shared. Those people were talking bollocks.

Does not explain the high usage stats according to IS Usage tracker, I have stopped using IS Usage tracker to check my stats because of it.
Usage stats was fine when AH was still on IS just weird stats with Openweb, so I can understand why some people might think accounts are shared.

Remember that while your account isn't "shared" you're still on a contended service. I'm no expert on this but that may be why you have "multiple users" and high usage.

Mr Beep,

Out of interest, is there anyway how we can compare each ADSL uncapped option. I can't gather from the website how each of these products compare against each other for example: Titan against Everyday, Everyday against Standard and so on and cant even tell which is better between Standard and Everyday.

This has been answered on many many different occasions.

More you pay, more you get.

Hi Bighit

We are working on creating a more comprehensive comparison tool than the one we currently have. In the meantime though, it is quite easy.

The more you pay, the lower your contention ratio (the less people you share capacity with) the higher your priority on the network, the better your overall service.

Perhaps the expert should reply to clear things up for the client who isn't sure?

Surely contention means x people using y chunk of bandwidth, and not 'account sharing' on the same chunk? Is this merely coincidence? Then why was the answer, in the past month or two, given that "it never happens and there was a bug where the system dished out the same account when two users signed up at the same time", to quote loosely?

Kindly clarify, MrBEEP. I thought it never happened. Perhaps we should get more people to check?

I'm no expert obviously so take anything I say with a grain of salt. I believe that the tool in question takes the usage of the pool you share your bandwidth with instead of the entire network/tier or person you may be duped accounted with.

I wonder if the passwords are the same?
