OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Hi Mr Beep,

Okay, is the Everyday package a re-branded version of the old Standard package?

Hi Bighit

We are working on creating a more comprehensive comparison tool than the one we currently have. In the meantime though, it is quite easy.

The more you pay, the lower your contention ratio (the less people you share capacity with) the higher your priority on the network, the better your overall service.

I have no internet during the day until 17:00, this is so stupid. I can not work like this from home! I can not even open google to search and after 17:00 till 8:00 my line moves at full 4mb.

Bye Openweb

Does not explain the high usage stats according to IS Usage tracker, I have stopped using IS Usage tracker to check my stats because of it.
Usage stats was fine when AH was still on IS just weird stats with Openweb, so I can understand why some people might think accounts are shared.

This has been answered on many many different occasions.

Hello,

No it is not. Everyday Uncapped has a higher contention ratio and higher priority on the network compared to the Standard Uncapped (Original)

Kindly power down your router for 30 minutes then back on and provide feedback

Please do not use any third party tools to check usage.

If you would like to monitor usage kindly email [email protected] so that we can activate this feature for you on the OpenWeb CP

By default, we do not log usage stats on uncapped accounts.

Perhaps the expert should reply to clear things up for the client who isn't sure?

Surely contention means x people using y chunk of bandwidth, and not 'account sharing' on the same chunk? Is this merely coincidence? Then why was the answer, in the past month or two, given that "it never happens and there was a bug where the system dished out the same account when two users signed up at the same time", to quote loosely?

Kindly clarify, MrBEEP. I thought it never happened. Perhaps we should get more people to check?

It is. If you use third party tools to check usage, you will not see correct usage. You will see different sessions and stats bundled together.

We have our own usage module that we can activate upon request.

I don't think usage is the concern?

MrBEEP,
Is the Gold Uncapped (Power) from 4meg capable of delivering streaming services with out issue any-time of the day?

I'm depressed with a certain ISP using MTN that has run out of IPC capacity in Cape Town/South region causing mass shaping, and watching online video in 720p impossible plus zero support. I use about 150gig/month on 4meg line.

Just FYI....I'm on gold power 4MB, using Netflix through Unotelly and watching via PS3 netflix channel. I can never stream better than 480p sadly...

Thanks for the heads up. You are not the first person to tell me today and your setup is same as mine. Hopefully I can find an isp that can do it or try capped.

If you do find out, please let me know. I've tried AH capped but it hasn't been much better. I think a bigger pipe is needed - 4MB doesn't seem to cut it.

My latency to eu is about 60 higher than normal. Anyone else having issues?
