OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

I have two "sessions" active on my account. But before someone goes off like a mad thing let me clarify somethings.

I had a Gamer's king 2Mbps account. It was running fine with two sessions active. My brother in-law had a 4Meg line with Mweb and one day when A went to visit. I turned my router off and went to him. He used my log in details and tested the account. I was indeed limited to 2Mbps. I received my Telkom speed upgrade and then upgraded my account, my account username and password stayed the same.

Now if the whole Two concurrent session thing was true then the other guy would have received a free speed upgrade. I somehow don't see how openweb would share accounts and then be dumb enough to upgrade both users when one upgrades their account.

So I personally don't think account sharing is actually happening.
As far as the other issues go. PM MrBeep or vote with your wallet.

I think we should post our humble opinions based on our factual experiences. If you feel there is foul play voice it, but do not harp on it.
I hope my experiences might shed some light on the whole "Two Sessions" theory. I do understand it not completely rule out some peoples concerns but I think it might help in the validation of Openwebs argument.

I am not a fan boy. I just want to share that my overall experience with openweb has been a pleasant one. My wife is a stay at home mom. She does notice a bit of a slow down during the day but the line is usable and reasonable. I'll try and get her to do speed tests next week a few times each day just to see what we as a gamers king account holders experience.

Line upgrade != Package speed.

e.g.

10 meg telkom line with a 2 meg uncapped package will give you 2meg uncapped speeds unless the package is also upgraded to 10 meg.

A quick notice,

There are currently two large exchanges down in Cape Town which could cause some issues.

Telkom engineers are working on it

I think I would know my own setup. The only thing connected to this interface is the modem, there is nothing else connected here. I have a pfsense box with two interfaces, this is the WAN interface I've posted for.

Here is the data for the LAN interface, although this is basically the same as this is just a firewall.

Code:
re0 / monthly

month rx | tx | total | avg. rate
    ------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
      Jan '14 16.12 GiB | 262.14 GiB | 278.26 GiB | 871.50 kbit/s
      Feb '14 21.68 GiB | 415.78 GiB | 437.46 GiB | 1.52 Mbit/s
      Mar '14 19.85 GiB | 332.34 GiB | 352.20 GiB | 2.50 Mbit/s
    ------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
    estimated 44.97 GiB | 752.82 GiB | 797.79 GiB |

To reinforce this my SABNZBd usage alone this month is 145GB, that is already over what is reported on IS for this month.

Ofcoarse you know more about your own setup :P

But for all we know, you are running multiple PPPoE sessions over that WAN interface, and thus it can report more data done, that what you did on the actual account. Like I said, you are the only case thus far I have seen, where you state more traffic done, than shown on users.isdsl.net

I can assure you I'm only ever using one PPPoE connection. Even if i dialed all my "backup" capped accounts and used my caps up it still wouldn't account for an extra 200GB of usage.

Account I requested logs for still doesn't have logs but the username was changed. Please ask Leon to see.

I can't believe so many people are indulging in this BS conspiracy theory nonsense. No logic to be found here.

You should rather ask why you got a new username instead of when you will get logs.

IS tool shows 1 connection and the account works very well. I don't care whether the account is shared or not as it's super affordable and works. The username also includes my name so.... :)

also just know this happened...

Yeah not worth it. I know I had a look at that angle a while back, Mr Beep PM'd me some info and I concluded its OK. Can't remember the details though & can't be bothered to find it.

That being said - browsing is noticeably sluggish today...more so than it has been in months. Not a Telkom/exchange issue either.

Same here, just logged in to see what is up before I mail them. Their side for sure:The moment it leaves our shores it goes to crap....

Is it just me or is the Diablo 3 ping terrible getting 800-1000 ping the whole time but with other account constant 250-300

Hi Guys

I'm in DBN, over the last few days I've started to get weird pings and randomly slow after hours speeds, I've called Telkom who insist my line is OK. Openweb guys have tested my account (on the same exchange) and sent me proof that it's OK. Does anyone have any suggestions that could help?

Call Telkom again and have them recreate your port. If that works, migrate your line to Axxess and whenever you get the same problem, recreate your port yourself.
