OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Hi,

I would like to announce my decision here that I'm going to CANCEL my Openweb Gold 2Mb account next week. I've had enough. I'm so sick of being screwed around. I've confirmed that my OW account is the actual issue, not my line. Your services are so bad!

Your website's hilariously pathetic. You never stop re-branding your products. It's been like this for a looong time. What are the actual, verifiable differences between those re-branded packages! Orange vs Leon Orange? Which one is better? Likely none. They are all the same but cost differently.

My OW password is 1122. The same as everyone's here. I'm pretty convinced that my account is SHARED and I don't know who but there's definitely someone else other than me who've been using this account. It's the only logical explanation why I've been getting bad experiences with this account. Crappy speeds at random times. Some last 6 hours or more. Restarting the router didn't help. Don't blame my line. It's fine, according to Telkom.

This is unacceptable! I paid for an OW account to be used by ONLY ME! I expected it to work as advertised (see below!).

Priority over Vanilla, Standard and Silver! FAIL
Priority Gaming 24/7! FAIL
Priority Downloads After Hours and ALL weekend! FAIL
Shaping only applied when the network is busy. We unshape you completely during other times (+- 60% of any given month is unshaped). FAIL

In conclusion, Openweb sucks and therefore I decide to cancel my broken account and move to a better land somewhere in this section.
 
Will be moving to the new unshaped accounts from tomorrow and will compare it to my Gold Orange account in the coming days.

Considering the good relationship I had with OW, its quite painful to see this. Surely now is a good time for Keoma to step in?

The last few months daytime usage has been non existent. I had a Standard Account, and I only used the account for browsing and email during the day. The account was unusable. I complained but was told there was nothing wrong. Nighttime speeds were great with downloading.

Anyway I cancelled last month, partly to do with the account and partly for other reasons. Today, the account won't even open the google search page. I've had to top up my Afrihost account to go online.

Sorry Openweb, it was great while it lasted. Whatever changed in the first quarter of this year has made a negative difference to users. If you can, change it back.

PS. It's harder to get back a customer once they are lost.
 
Uncapped, Unshaped on the web site - only 198 accounts left... really?? Just the other day it was a trial service.

Given the vast choice of ISP's around it is very easy to move elsewhere. I have, today is my last day with Openweb.

I just sent my cancellation in as well. It is sad for me, since I've been with OpenWeb for years and always had great service. Until I didn't. I've held out as long as I could hoping things would go back to the good old days, but unfortunately it seems to be getting worse. I'm no fanboi and since I'm paying for a specific service, I need that service delivered - I will not hang around just because I "like" OpenWeb.

I do hope they get it sorted out so that maybe one day in the future I might return to OpenWeb. But it would take a lot less of what has been going on in this thread over the last couple of months for me to even consider using/recommending OpenWeb. I have already had to advise a few people to drop them since I was getting a lot of flack from recommending them in the first place.

Uhm... the others are all cheaper and without "teething" problems... except Plugg, no Business package that I could find.

1. All OW accounts are shaped, throttled, except for this ''Limited Edition'', and there no smiles on any of the other packages ....
2.Potentially - no other accounts from OW are ''perfect'' for business and home users save for this one.
3. Unless you have this package, you enjoy ''hindered internet access'',
4. And if you dont have this package over any of the other OW offerings you are not one of the "discerning customers" and so you must be a ........

My question is, will Gold finally get the priority over the other accounts or are we going to see Gold, Silver, Titan all mixed into one?
 
Take pricing out the equation - I want performance :) - which one?

Go take a peek at AH Business forum. They seem to be on track at the moment.
I have a business account with AH and happy than Malema with a new red Beret and some TV coverage. :p
FYI - I am geographically in the same area as you - Viz the greater Durban area.
 
I for one never bought this "only 198 accounts left" BS.

Anyway another work day and another day waiting 3 minutes for PDF documents to download. My wife said enough is enough.

We are going to a different ISP. One that doesn't try to bullish-t me. This time I am going through with the cancellation. I need to run a business.
 
Ok so i have been experiancing the EXTREMELY slow speed, but always before i go to bed / midgame dota..

Whats this all about :S?
It hasnt affected me too much but been a pain when im getting 20kb/s for a temporary amount of time...

Also this new business package, seems attractive, any thoughts on it, but honestly, R400+ is abit steep.. I liek open OW, but i mean afrihost is offering a business package for less per month :/
