OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

To be fair you can't compare a capped account and an uncapped account, especially on an international route.

Comparing wasn't my intention, it was more just a case of proving that it wasn't a slow/problematic server or anything. You have to admit, that's pretty heavy in terms of shaping by any standards.

That being said, my WA account is faster on international than my OW account is on local.

That's more than 10% of your line speed. Not "heavy" at all during the day.

Really? Does that apply to all ISP's or just Openweb?

If the above is true, then I've been riding the gravy train up until the end of April, and probably should keep the account. Although, it's a little frustrating when I get shaped on a Sunday. This was never the case in the past.

Not at all. I think he was being sarcastic. Being shaped to those speeds is absolutely terrible.

Be Careful with these okes - Axxess uses a rolling threshold where they throttle your line during certain periods of the day if you go over the thresholds :

How are so many people blind? The greyed out section is greyed out for a reason, Axxess no longer applies a rolling window. Furthermore you can get a Business Uncapped 4MB account from them for R50 LESS than the supposedly highest tier of gold 4MB. Which is unshaped 24/7, and immensely superior.

Someone link my thread on this. We had the official rep explain the wording in the AUP and confirmed 0 thresholds and 0 shaping on business accounts.

Another quote from the doctor himself.
"It has become commonplace for greedy ISPs' to throttle their clients after a magic amount of usage on uncapped. OpenWeb strongly disagrees with this practise. It is for this reason that our accounts are completely unthrottled." says Keoma Wright, Founder of OpenWeb.co.za

Really sorry I missed that...hope you can forgive me...please.....

Guess it is time to bump off the "other user" so I can browse and DL at line speed again. It has been almost 1,5 hrs and only managed to do 275MB.

Holding thumbs that the password tool in the CP works.:erm:

If your password was ar@@@@@i. Guess what??:D

Wow OpenWeb really are useless... I was also having the issues on my account where I just literally could not browse, it was at the point that images and sites weren't even loading at all. I contacted OpenWeb towards the end of last month and they gave me a trial account to use (which worked nicely) and then I reverted back to my usual account when they instructed. Then a few days later the same thing started to happen. I logged another ticket and they swapped me to the MTN backbone, now I'm getting 30KBs on my 4MB line.

Seriously typing up the cancellation email now.

Do not pick OpenWeb
