I called to get more information about it, but the lady I spoke to could not help me and said she would get somebody to call me. I got a phone call now (2 hours later) from somebody. I started telling him about the email I received and asking him a few questions. All he could tell me is that the special is "all sold out" and there has been a massive response and that there were only a limited number on offer. NOWHERE does it say that in the email they sent me!!! It says that it is valid until the end of today (16 Feb. 2012).

False advertising!!!

Yip, I call publicity stunt on this offer. The email detailing the offer was apparently sent out at around 1am. One forumite attempting to subscribe to the special at 6.45am this morning was told all sold out. So 200 sold between 1am and 6am??? Highly unlikely...

Wow, two threads bashing a special where an ISP gave almost 200 people a monthly saving of R200 each! If I was mrbeep I would not repeat these specials again. Any excuse to troll

Um it says....

Why didn't you do that to get more info?

I did to order but was sold out - I think they should've mentioned that only 200 accounts were available - the impression given was misleading. However it was a really good deal and maybe why they didn't mention the 200 accounts was to get the great response they have received? a good marketing tactic!

Unless the entire ordering process is automated or Openweb's office was open this morning between 1am-6am how do 200 accounts get sold and authorized??

They had to be there at that time, right Mr Beep?

Hi Mr V,

To paint a picture mildly, myself and my admin staff were very busy this morning!

Clearly if there were 200 accounts for this promotion then it should of been clearly noted on the email.

False advertising and a staff member not known anything about it - Marketing stunt

If I were in your shoes I would notify all clients that special is valid from Midday - 1pm for the first 200 folks cos if you have a database of over 30 K emails to send out - everyone should gain from such promotion. Not the night hawks or people with no life awake at that hour

All your staff members should of been notified - that this special is sold out or a banner on your website to notify clients.

another blunder, just like webafricas one.

The ISP's need to realise when they have such nice specials like these they need to put everything up front and make it crystal clear. Otherwise they will always end up disappointing us.

People are complaining about discount offers?

Is the OP insane?

This is why we can't have nice things.

Way too big of an entitlement issue in this country.

Hoping "public outcry" will pressure availability likely

Because I know somebody else who emailed them and got no reply at all, so I figured I would look up their number and phone them. It's easy to ignore emails. More difficult when you have somebody on the other end of the line...

There is a very fine line between "good marketing tactic" and false advertising...

Is it not possible for you to make your point without being abusive??

You're the abusive one. You and all the trolls just ready to suck the blood of a company trying to do good for ADSL in South Africa. Every little move is torn apart like a bunch of blood hungry dogs. Keoma, you are doing a bloody good job, do not let these morons get to you
