Openweb - false advertising?

We keep quiet about huge screw ups by these big cellphone companies and now here's someone trying to kak on a good company like OpenWeb. At this rate given how many people the mobile providers 'serve' there should be riots!

I'm tired. Lets just end this.
I agree. I've been watching the original The Thing for the past two hours and I'm only about an hour into the movie. :p

It's not like anybody is any closer to convincing anyone of anything here, and some of us are starting to attack the people, and not their arguments. *whistle*
I'm rejuvenated :D

But going for a flick now.

The big deal is that the full details of a proposed agreement are meant to be set out beforehand. They weren't. When this was pointed out, the person who made the error responded in a manner befitting of a 3-year old.

And that's why I couldn't wait to leave them :)

lol...

It's true though. OpenWeb were always hesitant to answer difficult questions (read: more than one) and if you pushed them, you started getting attitude (nothing major, but it was tangible).

Mostly what was off-putting was their attitude on the forum, e-mails friends had forwarded me and e-mails some folk on MyBB pasted. The final straw, however, was really just when my account had failed to be "renewed."

OpenWeb is a decent ISP as long as nothing goes wrong, but if something does then there's nothing that they can do beyond resetting your port or switching your backbone.

I think the people who defend them so vocally do so not because they feel that OpenWeb is a great ISP that needs defending, but because they see the faults and problems with the it and don't want to admit to them because they have nowhere else to turn (probably because they're tied into specials, other ISPs have failed them and they can't get those backbones from anywhere else).

Maybe I'm wrong but OpenWeb is one ISP I will never go back to.

Thank the internet gods that WebAfrica released uncapped products.

Edit: The thing is, I felt I couldn't trust an ISP whose founder could turn into a petulant child at the drop of a hat the moment someone said something disagreeable. That alone said all I wanted to know about OpenWeb, that was that it was an ISP I didn't want to associate myself with :)

Just curious any one who was successfully in getting this special, what time did you send an email through. Go easy on Openweb in one of the locked threads Mr Beed did admit Openweb will state that the accounts are limited the next time the special runs.

No one on MyBB scored, it seems

Openweb has its fair share of issues, yes, but I'd be lying if I said I'd had any issues at all with my internet in the last three months (aside from my account randomly getting cancelled over December). If they switch me from VB to anything else I'll probably leave and join the university's slightly expensive 10mb internet. Right now I'm comfortable, though.

It does get frustrating to talk to MrBeep via email at times, as he simply does not answer your questions, but ecery time he's managed to sort out my issues properly.

And I don't buy your 'I don't want to be associated with OW' thing, no offense. You and I both know that if Webafrica didn't come out with uncapped you'd still be on OW.

Sure, if you're happy then good for you. Fact is that OpenWeb has a track record of facetious commentary, snotty attitudes and obtuse problem-solving.

How's that? With a port reset or a new account?

See what I wrote:

That is the reason I stayed. I was tied in to a 4Mbps Gold account for R539 per month. The only backbone that really worked for me was Altech, which I couldn't get from anywhere else. After two months, that failed me too, so I got stuck with IS. IS was decent for the most part but it was still heavily shaped during the day (half my line-speed at best).

You are definitely right, if WebAfrica didn't release their uncapped products, I would still be with OpenWeb. Hell, if their product failed me, I would've gone back to OpenWeb. Fortunately, it didn't, their service has been impeccable, professional and courteous and the contrast between the two companies is ridiculous.

I get full line-speed 24/7 as long as I'm not throttled, and even when I am throttled, I still get around 350-380kB/s. Oh right, and I pay R60 more for it than my OpenWeb account.

Regardless, my initial post was directed purely at OpenWeb's attitude; not the accounts that they resell or the quality thereof.

Also, OpenWeb isn't part of the ISPA, last I looked. I wonder why ;)

Money Talks™

However it still seems that one has to be stuck with the least "evil" of the lot till there is one ISP that is bit better to which you can change to. This is now where you can be comfortable...

please link. I'd love to see where I did that. I've always been and always will good supporter of ASASA and openweb should know this. I've lodged a complaint against wantitall just a week ago on same grounds they have broken since earlier ruling. Even Solmatrix knows this well.

Well I tend to think less of Keoma and his users with his and their clear showing of maturity.

You yet again miss the point. It was to show - garry big mouth there, but quickly no mouth here when it comes to something he use.

serous ?

BTW Asasa isn't cpa, just to update you. I'd end the infinite loop with you guys seriously need to look at yourselves before yet crucifying us again. You are at fault not us, we've so far made observation just to be met by your "piss and vitrol" as you call it. Still laughable at best.

Now unless you are able to end the loop and pull head out of sand. This would be my last response to you.

So you're one of those people that likes to waste the ASA'a time with crap?

Even if Keoma had said in the mail a million accounts for free, and I applied and they were sold out, I'd just well gosh too bad, and carry on browsing MyBB.

It seems like you have a bone to pick with Openweb. Have they wronged you in the past? Did Keoma sleep with your girlfriend maybe?

Coz really, R99 is nothing to make such a fit about.

seriosuly????? the pitchfork and torch brigade STILL going strong????

mod should just close the bloody thread, this is beyond ridiculous now

Use them, don't use them... but for Pete's sake ... quit whining like a little b1tch.

SolMatrix was selling fake uncapped, they sold uncapped but if you use too much they had the right to cut you off which they did. It was rectified. I don't see the problem there. You and dear garry would have done the same as I have.

I have a bone to pick with any ISP or company that warrants it, you my friend seems to be doing to same to any one that has an opinion different to yours. Humor me this... Why isn't open web part of ISPA ?
