Openweb Gold - Slow

6mbps

Firewall shows an average of 150 to 250KB/s average with bursts up to 400. Never check what quality the stream is but picture is clear on all HD TV's so content.
As long as dual streams don't burst same time for long it is fine. We have never noticed anything while actually viewing though.

I have tweaked my QoS on the firewall to almost perfection so the Roku's get highest priority with Xbox next. NZB's and Youtube get what's left.

Cool :)

How you finding the roku(3?)? I have a WDTVLive which is okay, but limited (can't have hulu and BBC iplayer at the same time), at least it has netflix and streams off the network, which is really all I need.

My media path (just for background and understanding).

1. Xbox with Xbox Media Center streaming from my PC.
2. Dedicated media PC with a Zalman HT case. Was WMC again.
3. Raspberry Pi with OpenElec. Large interface.
4. Microserver running Plex and Plex Server on my dev machine (turning point for me here. Plex rocks).
5. WDTV Live hub and 3 x WDTV 's. This rocked. Way better than a machine setup by the TV. Boring GUI though. Wanted Plex.
6. But a Roku 2 XS. Blown away. Far superior to anything I had used before. Got another and replaced two WDTV's.
7. Apple TV 3. Lasted about a week then sold it. Spoilt by the Roku.
8. Needed more Roku's so got 2 of the newer Roku 3's.
Plex server runs on my dev/download/media server now.
Canceled DSTV.

I really enjoy my movies and TV Shows, and only the discovery of the Roku allowed the slow down of the constant tinkering. Used to drive the family nuts how often I changed devices.

Still got 1 WDTV laying in one of my drawers. No use for it anymore.

Answer your question? :D

hahahaha, I know what you saying (aargh!!! why have you changed the remote AGAIN!!?? I just got used to this one)

Well, you have convinced me now, gonna get a roku :)

Just can't bring myself to cancelling DSTV tho, still like the simplicity of turning it on and it just works (in HD), esp for the likes of F1 and news and stuff, just TV basically, sometimes I got to give myself a break from NOT seeing any ads :D

Cheers, thanks for your input :)

My final post here...

This past week has been an absolute pleasure on Afrihost Unshaped Business.
Not a single issue or hiccup.
Everything just working.

It has become a pleasure to switch on the laptop in the morning now.
It is has made that much of a difference.

Afrihost has won... and after 3 and a half years with Gold, I will be moving on.
The new Gold is still not exceeding 55KBs and 9-5 cannot compete at all.

An unshaped uncapped account with zero issues for the same price... it is a no brainer.

FFS people ... I have just agreed to pay more to go onto Gold with OW ..... :(

Well if it doesn't work out, s'pose there is always MWEB

or AH, or WA, or TI......

It may work out for you so don't despair. These office hours issues don't affect everyone it seems.
