OpenWeb/OpenISP ADSL Packages

And, I have just decided to provide a free 56K OpenBROWSE proxy account to all OpenISP accountholders. SO dont despair, everyone will still have access after they are capped. :)

clubbe, that seems to be the deal, yes.

/me applauds OpenISP, and NukeCAP.

You guys are really moving with the markets. Well done fellows.

Well MrBEEP it would be good if you told your own prospective buyers that IS does not allow any international access after the cap. OpenBROWSE or not. Shouldnt need to hear this from me.

Now I am confused ( happens often ;-) )
Will therre be international browsing after the cap or NOT.
MrBEEP??

Well, first I heard of it...

But whether it's true or not, I will be giving you a FREE 56K OpenBROWSE account for international browsing. If you would like higher access speeds, you can upgrade to our 128 or 192k packages.

So, to answer the question, yes there will be international browsing if you get your IS account from OpenWeb! :) 3GB package and up...

I too am worried about november the first , i have 512 k adsl , i am sooo looking for options come november the 1st i am using webafirca now and now problems , 30 gigs is more than enough , i game , i dont use p2p , so this could an option , i am just not sure of it atm .

Basically from what i understand you get 3 gigs international , then after you are capped , you still get 30 gigs local , does this mean you get 33 gigs all together or 27 plus 3 gigs international ? Then the free 56k part , does this mean a dial up , or after being capped you get routered through a 56k connection ?

If this does take off , will you be able to cope with the sudden influx of more people ? How quick will problems be sorted out ? Sorry for the many questions but this is important to me . Also how sure are you that we can still get 30 gigs locally after november the first ? Seeing as though it is by passing the telkom rules ect . Will it be month by month ? On a side note , maybe you could offer a bigger local cap for more per month keep the same intert cap but more local say 50 gigs , i for one like to get the occasional game demo and dont want to worry about killing my cap .

Thanks

Hey

It is 27 + 3 Gb's.

We have multiple backup networks that we have implemented to cope with an influx. We will also do continuous upgrading as people subscribe.

I am positive you get your local access after capped!

You can buy the service from me month to month. Just as long as you cancell at least 5 days before the end of the month. everything is great!

If you have any more questions, please dont hesitate to ask :)

Mr Beep, is the international and local usage metered separately, eg if I have the 3GB package and for the first part of the month, I use 3GB which is all local, do I then still have 3GB international bandwidth available?

Hey mystic, Unfortunately, IS measures International and Local together. This seems to be a standard in South Africa. All accounts via all ISP's via all backbones are unfortunately the same :(

Thanks for the quick reply. I find it strange that when the 1st-tier ISPs measure the bandwidth, they can't (or are unwilling) to measure local and international separately, but when they cap, they can suddenly cap international while still allowing local. This forces one into artificial behaviours, such as minimising local usage in the first part of the month (because it uses up the international allocation) and only accessing local near the end of the month when it's clear how much international bandwidth is still available.

We are currently holding talks with a very respected ISP, and should be able to offer a vast variety of new packages within the next month or so.

Another reason we are giving you to: "BURN those GiGS!"
