Have had openwebs uncapped account for a while now. On paying my subs this month, i was told that the service has now stopped and would i like to buy the 512 uncapped version of the account for R1349. Here is the email:

Hi ..........

Thank you for the email and payment of R1199

As per the notice sent last month, we no longer supply the Special Uncapped accounts.

What would you like to do? Go with a 512k Uncapped account for R1369?

Kind Regards

Now remember this was for the 1 meg line i paid R1199, and now they give me half the service and want to charge me more.
I feel like im dealing with Telkom evry time i deal with them.
Werent these the guys at the start saying we are the GOOD GUYS.
Sure you are until you get enough subscribers and then u pull the same tricks as telkom!
The worst thing about this whole thing is that they said they sent me a notice on the 10th May, but on that date and the 11th i was sending emails to them about the terrible throttling that was going on...........i sent about 6 emails and not once did they say anything about stopping the service.
I know Mr Beep is quite active on these forums, and the response to emails and problems are normally quite good, however this has left a nasty taste in my mouth.

Surely this is not the way Openweb wants to conduct business, and also especially in these climes.

Hi kienah

I am sorry that the email did not reach you.

I herewith paste a copy of the original mail sent:

Dear OpenWebber!

I hope your day is going really well so far!

It is with great sadness that I announce the end of the Uncapped special for R1199.

The special will expire at the end of May.

We do however offer a 512k Uncapped ADSL package at only R1369 incl VAT per month. This is a commercial offering, and not a special account.

Your account will be cancelled, unless you drop us a mail and ask us to move you to a different package.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyal support! You are a true OpenWebber!

Kind Regards

Well, that was quick!!
Pity i didnt get that so quick in my mailbox.
30 second response time?
so there is no mention of why u closing the account???
I have been a loyal member of Openweb for a while, and im supposed to accept that generic email as a good reason {even though i never got it.}, is that how you treat your subscribers, like we are a just a number.
At the end of the email offering the more expensive option for half the service, are you being sarcastic when you say
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyal support! You are a true OpenWebber!"
Answer the questions i have asked you dammit!!
Stop with the generic corporate replies and get your teeth around the issues here!

Hi kienah

The Uncapped Special was sold as just that. A special. We did not guarantee it would last forever.

I'm afraid we had to cancell the account upon the introduction of the new commercial Uncapped packages from IS.

Ultimately, we cannot make a loss on accounts sold, as this would not be a wise move for any business.

I am sorry if I'm sounding 'sarcastic', or 'corporate'.

I can only present the facts, which are:

1. A mail was sent out early May to inform clients of the change.
2. An option was given to upgrade, to avoid disconnection.
3. We no longer offer the Uncapped Special account.

Kind regards
