Have you guys seen openweb's new static DNS service, still in beta?

I'm interested in trying it, but I don't have a [email protected] or if I do, I don't know what it is. I've tried emailing [email protected] last night but got no response. It seems as if the emails just don't get delivered. If I remember correctly openweb use to send a ticket number the moment one email support, but I'm not getting that.

I also want to change my account to a local only account for March, don't know if it is too late to do so now.

Mr Beep PLEASE HELP or if anyone else have any suggestions. Maybe I'm using the wrong email address.

Sounds like a pre-packaged DynDNS solution to me. Calling it static DNS is a little like calling a circle 'round'. Circles are, by definition, round and DNS is (once assigned) static.

Posix has been offering this service since forever and setting up DynDNS achieves the axact same thing.

I wouldn't exactly place this at the forefront of inovation, but it certainly is an excellent feature and will help non-savy users to quickly start using their DSL lines for much more than just downloading stuff.

I sincerely hope that OpenWeb will expire the DNS entry once the RADIUS session terminates (so that the DNS name does not point to an innocent user when the dynamic IP gets re-assigned).

Is Posix local, is it Free? Is openweb's local? I assume so.

My problem with DynDNS is that once internationally capped updating IP becomes difficult.

I don't think so, I authenticate with isp*****@dsl512.isdsl.net My email address that I have with openweb is willemvdm at openisp.co.za.

I've tried both isp*****.dns.openweb.co.za and willemvdm.dns.openweb.co.za and now also tried willemvdm.dns.openisp.co.za. None of them work.
 
Axxess has a much better product for months now. If you share your ADSL connection(Username & Password) between 4 locations then you are able to setup 4 Dynamic DNS addresses and link up all 4 locations via the Customer Control Panel on the Axxess website. They call this product vIP DNS and it's available free to all Axxess clients.

Example:
yourname1.axxessvpn.co.za
yourname2.axxessvpn.co.za
yourname3.axxessvpn.co.za
yourname4.axxessvpn.co.za

And the above example is with 1 ADSL account (Username & Password) shared over 4 locations.
So in my eyes they have got the best setup for this type of application.

Please email me your ADSL username and password, and I will assign an @openweb.co.za address to you.

By the way, Local Only account holders also have access to OpenWeb's Static DNS service making it perfect for VPN's running between branches in South Africa. Especially now that we are the cheapest ADSL Local Only provider in South Africa at only R121 for 30GB's.

Where does these setting go ??? into my router somewhere ???
