just wanted to say a BIG thank you to Kashief from Openweb support. I have been having a TORRID time in the last few days regarding my line, router etc. called at 4h55pm to try and see if my account maybe the problem. He went out of his way to try and help me for 35 minutes. Eventually found the problem to be something with my openweb login. He has given me a guest account in the mean time and will call me tonight to finally sort out the problem..

when things go wrong its comforting to see someone go the extra mile to make them right again....

Thanks dude!

Although I don't make use of their service, I will give them a thumbs up for getting involved in this forum to deal with complaints. Same goes for the other ISP's that take the time to read what their customers have to say, good or bad, and then make an effort to get issues resolved. These are the guys who must surely take pride in what they do and who they do it for, something I find quite lacking in the marketplace these days.

Good on all of you willing to make the effort!

Must agree! Openweb might not be the biggest company around, but they sure do try harder. The one time I bitched about service is far outnumbered by the number of times I was extremely grateful and happy with the service quality received.

Hi, people

I emailed OpenWeb a few days ago about the following queries. I havent received a reply yet. I was hoping you guys could help. These are my questions:

I would like to know more about the 2Gig Top Up account which is advertised for R159 per month.

1. Why is it called TopUp and how is it different from other account types?

2. Does this account come with the 30 gig local cap?

3. Is the local cap treated as separate from the international cap? i.e. If I use more that 2 gigs on my local cap, will it affect my international cap?

4. Does OpenWeb use soft-capping? And what happens when either international or local cap is exceeded?

5. I currently have a 384kbps Telkom DSL line with Telkom (2gig) as my ISP. What procedure do you recommend I take in changing to OpenWeb?

6. How are payments done on OpenWeb?

If the above questions can be answered , I (along with many others) will highly appreciate it. :)

This is the same as the normal 2 gig accounts but they expire at the end of the month AFAIK.

local and international all count towards initial 2GB

after int cap, no international at all. After local cap sometimes it is quite soft and you can get a lot more than 30GB, other times not.

Do you have a contract with TelkomISP?

Oh, and payments are either cash, bank deposit or internet transfer as far as i remember...I pay online always. Much easier.

I must say i am very impressed with the speed increase in openbrowse lately
its showing its true colours now !!!!!

This is good to hear .

I am going to give the 30gig local + openbrowse acc a run out for march...

im using the 3gig - openrouter one and the openbrowse is actually worth it now

That is good to hear. Does it allow any browser-based downloading at all? Or is it still strictly browsing-only?

i tried streaming , some sites work , not all of them
torrents are blocked , can download from nzb files which is cool
google is nice now and yahoo , used to take ages

Cool. Sounds like it really is worth it now. What about msn?

i have never been able to connect to msn through openbrowse
you can use that news24 messenger works great

Yeah, the news24 things works 100% on local. The fact that msn doesn't work on openbrowse is a bit sucky then in that case...

i have also been with openweb for a year , been a cool isp connection wise
also thinking of webafrica
