Openweb uncapped ADSL promotion

Whaaaahahaha!

I find the extra R20 I pay for a Gold account quite acceptable.
Last month I downloaded about 86GBs...on my 384 line.

Once the client emails us, the problem will be resolved.

We do not manage the shaping, our upstream providers do. We provide our clients with a choice of backbone for this reason.

Yeah so the mail respinse was "you account is running fine here, switch off your router for 10 minutes.
After that NNTP went faster for a bit. and I was told yet again that I cant expect full speed all the time, and I should switch to unshaped because this amount of shaping is normal.

The thing is, I don't expect full speed all the time. I expect the account to run the way it used to: something resembling a 4mbps line after business hours. I was happy if I could get it to go at 3 or even 2mbps after business hours, and didn't care that it went down to 100kb during the day. Now it can't even reach 100kb at 23:00

Right now NNTP is back at 24Kilobytes/sec only 1 day after the fix.
I'll have to cancel this account. It's not worth R738
 
Do you expect unshaped speeds on a shaped account? Seems like it

When I trialled the 1mb uncapped mweb line it was sitting around 70kb/s this time of the night. What is happening here

I did not see this was a openweb browse/lite account. It is their standard uncapped account.

Have I just made a huge mistake in signing up here?

Without denigrating Openweb, this was my same experience, to be honest.

I was very impressed with the service I received, but ultimately, I was not enormously pleased with the actual product.

I must add that I have realistic expectations for my shaped[ adsl account. It works really really well. Gold is great though! I have two for the office!

Agreed as well. People often seem to have very unrealistic expectations of what to expect.
 
Well I signed up without having first read this thread. Big mistake

My 1mbps line does 0.22mbps. Ping is half a second.
I can't even send or receive email without server timeouts.

Emailed the CEO- I want my money back.
