The VPN is only to be used when you need your Static IP active. If you have a VPN capable router, you can set it up in the router. If you do not need a Static IP, then you simply use the ADSL account normally.
Just selling what should come standard on uncapped for an extra fee...pft...
Answer to 4 is FAIL...might as well get mweb then????????????
My wife works at home so mwebs shaping is working great....my news and torrents are shaped during office hours and full steam ahead late at night.
i don't have to stop start worry etc...
life is great!
actually have a third question. can certain software that works on the p2p basis, but are actually legit be excluded from the p2p shaping? thinking of ign's downloder and some updaters and so on.
Dear ISP's
More innovation, less marketing obfuscation please!!!
Offer quality if you can and for crying out loud stop this dik measuring contest.
we've been over this before and had no joy with my dgl4300 and getting it on with your vpn (lt2p/pptp) setup. thinking back...actually if i look back at the threads/emails/pm still waiting for you to test it, but anyways :
1) i guess it's one vpn per one static ?
2) is this as troublesome as last time when some of us just couldn't get it working ?
/noted that it's only for static.
You guys can say what you will, but the mere fact that MrBEEP is responding to this article only minutes after it was place shows me that OpenWeb are atleast trying to make a change.
People are often quick to moan about what they DON'T have instead of what they do. It's simple, IF this package is NOT for you, move along and get yourself one that fits your needs and wallet.
This seems almost perfect for me.
Im afraid anything that works on the P2P and torrent technologies will be shaped during peak times. However, the shaping is not bad at all. Actually, our clients are very very happy![]()

Hi Keoma,
One more question, is there a option to “try” before you buy this product? I’d like to test it for a day or two to see how the shaping turns out before I go ahead and downgrade my line to 512k and get this package.
Kind Regards
Pieter
I'm quite keen to see the graphs please. Can you post them? MWEB also claim "after hours", but the meaning seems to change whenever it suits. I think I speak for many when I say we would prefer to know or for you to arrange more specific times. How do we know that once you have a great deal more customers, you won't call Sunday at 11pm peak time? There are no specific times, but generally, network traffic drops between 18:00 and 19:00 at night. And usage is usually low over weekends, thus shaping should be minimal.
