So odd. Sometimes I will get full speed, but it feels as though I am being shaped. I chatted to Mr Beep and supposedly it is overloading on the exchange. It's dam annoying downloading http @ 20kB/s on a 4meg line
 
Speeds erratic here on 6 Mb line. hovering between 20kb/s and 412kb/s downloading from Itunes store-no improvement over the last few days.

Mr Beep are they still working on this problem?
 
Yea I always check here to see if anyone else has problems before I bother by emailing :)
 
there are definite problems somewhere in the system. speeds randomly are up and down. for instance at about 11 last night was getting around 60kB/s on usenet. Currently at 250+
 
I am experiencing something similar, sometimes I will get full speed, othertimes I will get almost nothing, inconsistant timing.

ONCE AGAIN there is a Seacom cable outage. Details are sketchy, but I will update this thread as soon as we know more.

Actually, funny story... I was getting really bad speeds on my Vodacom Gold account (think 384) and MrBEEP was helping me out with it. Just checked it now after seeing your message:

Anyone else's VB speeds erratic?

Mine seem to bounce from being perfect for a few hours to being throttled to 384 speeds. I can switch to a WebAfrica/Afirhost account and all will be fine again (so I've pretty much determined that it's not line-related). These speeds on VB are constant when testing over ftp.is.co.za; ftp.saix.co.za; mirror.ac.za so I'm pretty much at a loss here.

Just curious how many (if any) others are in the same boat? Hope it resolves itself soon :/

same results on my VB Gold account ...sent an email to Mr. Beep...waiting for his positive reply... :)
