Guys could anyone assist with giving me an STMP server to use with the Altech backbone?

Mrbeep i would suggest one little tweak that would set your apart from all isp's.

A big isp smtp's click here to view on your webpage :D.

1. VB : smtp.vbmail.co.za
2. BCS : smtp.dsl-bcsnet.co.za
3. Altech: smtp.atcsp.co.za
4. Neology: ipc.openweb.co.za
5. IS : smtp.isdsl.net

My VB backbone was terrible with torrents. So I mailed Keoma last night @ about 8:30. He replied with an IS login in less than 15minutes. Torrents jumped from about 3 to max immediately.
Excellent. Lets hope it lasts. The VB backbone also ran full speed at first.

VB is "Vodacom Business". It's not for torrents ;)
It is however brilliant for http and ftp :)

To all the guys who went from mweb to openweb gold, are you happy with the service, I'm also thinking of moving from mweb. When I move what backbone should I use, I don't do torrents only normal http and download quite often from fileserve, filesonic ext.

See above. I've never had issues on VB with file hosting companies.

Anyone else having some speed problems on the VB backbone this morning?

My NNTP speeds are only running at 270kB/s max, and my speedtest.net results aren't very good either. :(

I suppose it's not too bad, but I'm usually used to 350kB/s plus minus, during the day.

Yeah definitely something wonky this morning. FTP and HTTP is dying on me :(

Eish i tried IS and its horrid, most sites don't load. I cannot even run speedtest

Dammit and they are out of altech, i will ask for vb

I must chip in here. I was on BCS with OpenWeb which was pretty much full speed HTTP all the time never a problem. Torrents were horrid (0.1 to 1.4 kB/s). mrBEEP switched me over to IS backbone and now I get HTTP and torrents at pretty much full speed most any time. I seriously doubt that there can be better service for my needs and budget out there. I don't game or use NNTP so IS is perfect for me.
Thank you mrBEEP and OpenWeb :D

This contrasts strongly with my AfriHost experience. With Afrihost uncapped I would get progressively throttled (by 50% each time) to the point that webpages would not load at all during the day despite trying repeatedly in frustration for hours!
