Hello,

Please email me so that I can investigate.

Cant play any online game tonight, just lag and dc from the server... Warcraft 3, DotA
on top of that if i send 2000 echoes to www.google.co.za i only receive 1800 so 10% lost.

Very frustrating. sigh

MrBeep Im VERY interested to join the "AWESOME" services of OPENWEB, is there a test account you can give me to make my final decision and sign up with you guys?

I have a quick question (for Mr. Beep or whomever else cares to clarify). I just signed up for the R139 uncapped account and the T&C's say that "P2P/torrents etc. get the lowest priority"
Well I've just run a quick test and continued downloading a torrent that I was yesterday downloading at 35kbps (Telkom Fast) on an Axxess Lite account. Today on the Openweb account I have downloaded (at this exact moment) 480Kb in 38min (213B/s). Switching back to Axxess my download speed is back at 35-40.
Now, I understand that P2P/torrents etc. have low priority but I didn't realise that they were actually for all extensive purposes banned on this account. To add insult to injury I actually had to download a .torrent file from TPB.net via my mobile then transfer it to my PC because on this Openweb account it was going to take 20min to download the 80k file!! I mean..WTF!
And by the way, if I have downloaded 100Mb so far on this account (Win7 updates etc) I'd be surprised, so please don't chirp about me being a "downloader of the whole internet"
All I want is to be able to browse without caps and be able to leech 10-30Gb a month of programs/series/UFC that I enjoy.

P.S. Browsing and downloading updates, Antivirus from M$ etc. is perfect, no issues with general speeds.

Orsum 917k in 1h07min now, at this rate I'll be able to install this Linux distro in 2016

Email mrbeeps and request an account on the IS backbone. IS performs admirably across a broad spectrum of protocols.

Dude. It's a cheapass account. If you want to torrent get a GOLD account.

Correct me if I'm wrong but when signing up on Openweb both the "cheapass" account (R139.00) and the Gold account (R318.00) have the following term attached to them: * Shaped: (P2P, torrents and similar services are given the lowest priority on the network)

So you are telling me that there are 2 different rules in affect and that LOWEST priority doesn't mean exactly that?

Maybe someone can explain it all to me?

Meh, I'm going to bed, watching these download speeds is making me naar... not even good music can lighten my mood at the moment. With any luck I'll have 5Mb downloaded by 7am and then I'll be happy in the fact that the download will be done in 2014 not 2015.. ORSM

The GOLD accounts have a lower contention ratio meaning you get fewer people competing for the bandwidth and you get better performance.

+1

This is the best explanation for what a lower contention ratio is that I have read.

How did you get stats on your PS3 downloads, you have a linux box all traffic goes thro?

Can someone explain to me just what account you need to have to get onto VB which everyone says is awesome ? I am finding I have to pick between lesser of evils for whats starting to not seem so gold anymore.

I am on Altech at the moment (I've tried IS) and a Gold 4mbit subscriber.

I am a bit frustrated that I have to choose the lesser of evils just because I use the internet for everything, with altech my http and streaming is so superior to IS and MWeb but if I want to do any p2p is has to be in very specific windows of time, thus keep a separate unshaped acc for any small torrent I may need (which in my opinion I shouldnt have to do for a R700 account), if I use IS then I get more overall but its basically just like MWeb and if I wanted a MWeb experiance I'd use mweb and save some money each month.
