Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Serious question here and hopefully you guys can assist. I am going to upgrade with openweb in a month or 2 (just away till December). What would the difference be (practical terms) on the 4 meg standard uncapped between the 4 meg (shaped) gold account? I play Ps3 and need the lower latency, and will probably be moving 100 - 150 gigs a month. Cost is a deciding factor of course, but if i really need the Gold, and it meets my needs, then i'll have to go with it. Thanks.

Sorry for the probably redundant request but whats the difference between the Standard & Gold openweb accounts. Browsed the openweb site and besides the prices they seem the same?

Bump

Clients on the @openwebturbo.co.za and @openwebdsl.co.za realms will experience a fault with their international connectivity. Engineers are attending. This is caused by a major Fibre outage in the Johannesburg area. This will affect all folks using these realms. ETA: 6 hours

As can be seen by Mr.Beep's sig, the GOLD network has better contention ratios. Which means less shaping and better speeds.

I see it in the Sig, BUT how is it in practice? Lower contention fine, but how do they compare in terms of downloads. Can i do 100 gigs in the same time between packages? Is R200 more for Gold really worth it? You could buy standard uncapped, and then capped gigs for gaming, and come in slightly cheaper. OR, yes R200 is worth it because you can downlaod more / faster and gaming no problems on the gold.

Hey Friends,

An update on the fault listed below. International should be restored for most clients. However, there is still a small part of that network affected by the outage. Engineers are working on this as we speak.

Seems like Fiber can break too!

Kind regards
MrBEEP

Also really would like to know this, I turn the same GB per month and dont really need more but lag in games on MWeb is SHOCKING atm... Will uncapped be an improvement or will it only be see on gold?

Hey Guys,

I am a Gold user, and am very happy. Speeds are good, latency is EXCELLENT, and all round, it is miles ahead of Mweb.

For a little more, its worth it!

Currently on IS backbone and speeds have been sub 30kb/s on my 4mbit account.
Any way to sort this out?

On standard 4mbit shaped account

You gotten any reply from support?
Speeds do pick up after hours but i need to download my e-mail attachments NOW and not in 4hrs time

Hi,

Looking at the 4mbps lite deal. It says its unshaped unless you go into the top 20% of users.
Can anyone tell me how much those users are downloading per month, and if the account is any good.

Thanks

(Did have a quick scan to find this info in the thread, but no luck.

Hey Friends,

Hi MR Beep

Since the upgrade the network seems mutch more stable, Good Work...

Regards
Me...

Hmmm.

Yeah perhaps a quick show of the top 10 downloaders or top 20% of downloaders within certain speed categories? I'd like to see the Openweb Gold uncapped 384k personally.

Yeah unfortunately IS doesn't publicize any of that....

How does one get around Openweb Uncapped authentication issues when changing from one ISP account to another? The only way I have had it resolved in the past is for them to reset my port via Telkom.

What?? Just change your router's settings

If it was as simple as that I would have done it. Fact is: Sometimes I authenticate, other times I don't until the port is reset (or so I am told is the reason) for my changes to go through. Sitting at 9:15 and unable to validate my credentials. Have NO problems with two other ISP accounts!
