I am sick and tired of this. I do not pay a premium to be uncertain about the speed I get. I have no indication if there is a vb problem. And Keoma has not replied to my email of the 24th.

I will allow Keoma one more chance to sort this. But I expect immediate right to cancel given the issues I have had since December.

Eish, Sorry you having a bad experience. Just to compare, no problems on my side, but then i'm not in Joburg. Might be area related?
 
Dud,e have you ever considered that the problem could be on your side?

I have been doing FULL SPEED on my Gold account without fail. You are very quick to blame Openweb, but never look at your line or exchange or Telkom or your router, or or or.....

You will move to M****, and will have the same problem, because, actually, the problem was never the ISP. Then you're stuck with the worse service on earth, a cancellation headache, and you've made an arrogant company richer

I considered the fault may be on my side. But that was somewhat shot down when both Axxess and Webafrica prepaid accounts were running at 3.2Mbps rather than 0.3Mbps. You still think the issue is on my side?

Furthermore what will happen is Keoma will move me to a new account login. It will work for some time then the same crap will happen. I can't even begin to count the number of logins in the last month and a half. Yet the prepaid accounts don't see this degradation.

Jongi, I understand your frustration. I've also been through 3-5 different types of VB accounts, but the last one I received from Keoma really has been performing superbly since December last year. One thing I did note when downloading during business hours is that they shape SSL traffic for NZBs tremendously. Disabling it, I was shocked to see that I'm downloading full speed, all day long. To be honest, being able to download full speed the whole day is absolutely amazing and the way like it should be.

So if you are perhaps downloading NZBs, check for that during office hours. Torrent downloading on VB is almost non existent, don't really do torrents whatsoever. If I do HTTP, I also make use of a download manager to boost my speeds even further, but during office hours I've also been downloading at 420KB/s off megaupload too. So for me, I just do NZBs and HTTP and get full line speed.

Another thing, Keoma *could've* accidentally gave you a 384k account. Just check for that too, I was running on 384k and upgraded to 4MB in November last year. I only had a 384k uncapped gold account via VB. Emailed Keoma to change it to a 4MB one, but then realized that I was charged only R318 again for the month of December. Upon investigation and mailing Keoma again, I was running on that 384k account still, even though he did give me a new "4mb one" when I asked to get upgraded to one in November. Funny thing was, I still got 4mb speeds off that 384k account for the whole month of November and then once December struck I only got 384k speeds till Keoma gave me a full bred 4mb one.

I'm saying you're in the same boat like I was, but I do hope Keoma can sort it out for you asap.
 
Also been having problems with my 4M gold uncapped which seems to be limited to 512k max during the day. This includes pulling updates from the local Ubuntu update servers. Also failed during streaming our show last night. Not sure whats changed as it only seems to be problematic the past 2 months or so.

Are they using IS again as generally find there shaping to be quiet draconian and rather useless.

Having said this in the past this account was great and generally the service I've had from them has been good.

Think its getting fried because my downloads have been flying :p Think I have a netgear... can't remember.... I'll have to dig it out.
 
thanks. hopefully my slow speeds can be explained by the telkom van i saw parked near one of those corner boxes

Hey Friends,

There is currently a fault on the VB network. We are investigating the cause and will update this thread asap.

There is also a problem on the @openwebdsl.co.za and @openwebturbo.co.za network due to a Telkom failure. Engineers are attending.
