Evening everyone,
Is seacom down again? browsing is working, but torrents are almost dead @ 2kbps
OW standard account.

Mr Beep, can we have some update please?
 
Hey friends,

There is currently a fault with one of the backbone links causing slower speeds for some clients. Engineers are investigating.
 
doubt if it is seacom, unless Afrihost has redundancy running, getting almost full speed on the news servers with my Afrihost free account.
 
My HTTP is fine, but torrents are dead.

This is my first day, is it always like this on standard uncapped?
 
Yea no worry its my first day on Openweb as well...good impression they make...Have to say even my http seems slow...torrents are a no go as well....sign
 
Don't think gold will even work, but why have standard if you shape it to hell and promote it and on the first month some users are on everything goes dead?
 
Im on Standard Uncapped and am getting full speed. You people can moan hey! Geesh! You watch every byte, and if it drops by 1, you are screaming! Get a life.
 
You must remember that pretty much all of the ISP's resell IS bandwidth, so it's not OpenWeb shaping you. I am assuming these standard accounts are IS based, pretty much the same bandwidth everybody is selling. The difference though is in the support you get from the ISP and OpenWeb really excel in this department.
 
I am with openweb std as well, but I'm on VB backbone, why are some VB and some IS ? I have to say the VB bone is dead, well was this pass weekend.
 
Either intl problems were solved, or I got unthresholded again (yeah, that's what happens when you leave your torrents and linux updates on over a weekend and it's a new month :o ) :p

Uncapped Std is R219pm.... I suppose that if you email MrBeep before the month starts asking for a VB account instead of IS you would get one? One of the perks of the Gold account is being able to move between backbones as the err... need arises (or at least in my experience).

Depends what you need it for.
VB can't do torrents, or connect to news.is.co.za (or other local news sites). Best for intl NNTP and http.
IS is good for torrents and other stuff.
 
How's the general vibe today?

My nntp is coming down at sub 20KB/s on a 4Mb Gold (IS) account :(
