Openweb Uncapped Feedback

I have got really slow international speeds on IS. I logged into my Mweb account and the speeds are great. Maybe I left Mweb too soon!!!!!!!!

This is my latency test:

Doesn't bode too well.

Dunno if it's right, though. Unless the ISP just means I'm on the Siemens backbone.

If your mweb speeds are great, why did you move over to Openweb? Its just an honest question, not trying to be rude or anything.

Graal, that is horrible. If MrBeep can test your account and verify that everything is hunky dory on his side, then something is seriously stuffed on your line or your exchange and you should get Telkom to check it out, asap.

The problem is, my Mweb account is fine. No problems whatsoever. I don't know if MrBeep would be able to do much for me, because I'm not on a Gold account. This pretty much makes my internet useless for the purposes I got it, though, so I'd rather pay R80 extra and move over to Mweb uncapped and have stable speeds, than sitting with an account that only gives me decent speeds every once in a while.

Aaaw shucks... mine is starting the slow dwindle down... was fine, but then 35,33,20,16 and now downloads are hovering around the 8kBs mark - from various sources. Google+ and GMail sloooooow. Will see if it picks up...

EDIT: Picking up again... YAY. Keep on climbing.

Last month their speeds were really bad, and when I got the email with the 4096 gold, I jumped at it after seeing all the positive comments on the forum...

I'm posting the results of 5 pingtests to show how the connection fluctuates. Last two were to a different server than the first 3.

How long does it take again before you get your account details? Applied for a 1mbs account but I've forgotten how long it takes them to mail the login info. Apparently the account is active immediately so I don't know...

My speeds are back up and rocking. Not full speed but not anything I would complain about :)

You stole MY speeds!

Mine just died... using backup account now.

Perhaps now is a good time to give another backbone a test drive....

You just jinxed me. Mine has now gone back down to crappy speeds.

OPenweb network seems to be uncharacteristically erratic lately... I suspect all the former MWEB heavy lifters are putting the product through the mill....

Anyone know what other email address there is for openweb where I can ask for help regarding a new account?

EDIT: Nevermind. Keoma just mailed me with my new details. Thank you for the help.

If the experience I've been having since last night (line dropping, latency spikes every few minutes, bad connectivity to international servers etc) keeps going for the rest of the week, I'm cancelling this account and moving over to mweb. At least there I'm guaranteed access to everything unless the network is down, and I'm not placed on the worst backbone available. I'd rather pay the R80 extra for that, than wonder when I'm going to be able to use my services for only R140. It almost feels like I'm getting terrible performance on the standard uncapped just for the purpose of coaxing me into going to Gold.

I wasn't expecting the standard uncapped to perform perfectly, but to have it perform decently for 2 days, then suffer for another really sucks and isn't working for me.

I moved from the standard to the gold only because of how well the standard performed.

Only to find that in my case the standard was a better option, so the "coaxing me into going to Gold" theory is incorrect.

The problem is, when I switch to my mweb account, everything works perfectly, so it's not something on my end. What's strange about it is that even though my latencies are atrocious right now, I'm getting full speed downloads through http and steam. I obviously don't download when trying to play games, so it can't be that. It just feels slightly as if the standard uncapped users get lowest priority from OpenWeb, and if our connections get crippled, we are left to simply deal with it.

Edit: I can understand if this happens during the day, but these issues started and have been ongoing since last night.

Took a pingtest just now, and look at the results.

Something really just isn't right here.
