Excellent tip, speed went slow just now after couple of hours but after following your advice, back to full speed now :).

Thanks killadoob :D

Recommend anyone having issues, try this first before contacting MrBeep or /slow speed rant :p

It was running like crap, slow nntp, slow http.

Logged in rebooted router and bam all was good again :D. Odd when mweb used to tell me to do that it never bloody helped :D. Now it's like the best option. Slow speed = reboot and back to good speeds.

I'm getting 8kb again on 4mb (vb) on weekend. These accounts have become such high maintenance, it looks as if you're not at home to maintain them, you're stuffed.

Really disappointing lately, going into month two.

Yup a reboot sorts it for me, the thing is rapid if you cannot reboot the router i fail to see how that is vb or openweb's fault though dude.

Have you rebooted it yet? Not sure why they get slower but a refresh does the trick. I just put my router's ip in, select reboot and 3 minutes later it's done, the way you talk you need to spend 5 hours doing maintenance on it.

Takes 30 seconds to reboot remotely, make coffee, resume life. Phew tough work!!!!!!

/wipes sweat off forehead

I agree. Just trying to post this took a minute. On a 4Mb GOLD uncapped account. You tube does not even open. NNTP never goes above 120KBs. VB suck balls for many off us. Keoma what is up?

Ummm... Exactly like I said... Maintenance. How exactly am I supposed to reboot 1500km away?

If I was on a unshaped account it wouldnt require remote maintenance. I don't see why a account requires such maintenance .

Why should I have to reset my router in an attempt to get speeds I pay for?

If I remote reset my router and it doesn't come up then what? Are you going to pay my subscription?

Openweb often changes my password and I dont get notification... Im not taking the chance at 738pm

Ps...sitting at 48kb at r738, awesome

I agree with you on this one.I see trltec is selling gold uncapped accounts as well, are they a reseller of openwebs gold accounts?

Because it works, i only had to reboot once a week not everyday, so i am not sure why it is such a dramatic thing to reboot a router haha. You could always come and moan about the speeds all day long but in the time it takes you to post you could have already have rebooted. I know it's a mission taking those 60 seconds to reboot but heck it works so why not?

Seems no matter what people will moan, goodness me. Something as a quick a reboot is turned into such a big thing.

Rapid how exactly do you know what speeds you are getting if you cannot reboot your router? How are you loading all your goodies for download? I had to reboot once this week, so it took a total of 3 minutes downtime this week to get my interwebs working 24/7 full speed  shocking stuff i should dump this account with so much maintenance :p or i must go get unshaped for 2k. Hmmm no 12 minutes a month seems better than another 1.3k.

I'm not going to explain to you how sabnzb works... Unfortunately it doesn't support rebooting routers.

Also, if openweb didn't randomly change my account password, I'd gladly setup my router to allow remote rebooting.

I'm really happy for you that you can always be in front of your router Haha .. funny shocking maintenance free stuff Haha.. funny.. Haha...

Oh look.. I'm now getting 32kb... Must be my fault because I can't change my account or reboot my router

Hello xrapidx,

I am sorry to hear you are having problems again.

When you are available again to make a router change, please mail me so that we can move you off of this network.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

Just thought I'd add my 2c on here.. I signed up for Openweb GOLD, got my VB account 1st of September and it hasn't been great, haven't been able to reach line speed on any protocol (even downloading from Vodacom servers.. was getting a BlackBerry firmware update using a download manager with multiple threads... during the week I'd get 280kb/s downloads and today it was 120kb/s or less).

MrBeep has since switched me to an IS account and it's cruising... http & torrents hitting 410kb/s easily. Keen to see how it performs during the week though.

I wonder why VB is so great for some folks and yet so poor for others?

Good question, i guess it depends on your area perhaps, maybe VB is good in jhb and cape town but not in durbs haha or something like that. Perhaps the network is overloaded in certain area's. I would like to know though.

I am in jhb and vb is flippin awesome, full speed 24/7 with a few router reboots but still nothing wrong with uncapped full line speed for 700 bucks. Sure i have to break a sweat once in awhile rebooting my router :D.

Why does openweb keep changing your password? seems a bit odd. I reboot a few times a month and i have never had that problem.

Not sure why my password keeps changing, I suspect the vb accounts might be shared accounts?

I'm flying back to Cape Town this evening - so can try a move to another network then to see if it helps.

Hi Nova69,

We do not resell Openweb accounts - just like Openweb, we have agreements with several companies, such as Vodacom, BCS, Altech etc.
So in short, just like TRL Tech, Openweb is reselling bandwidth of various providers.

If you require more info, please PM me ;)

I think they are shared accounts but only if you are not using them, so the usename and password is unique, i think so anyhow because mine never changes. I know if i give up this for instance account mrbeep just passes it on.

Guys, my account has been behaving rather nicely since I got it on the 1st, except when it comes to Steam. Currently I'm getting 514Bytes/s while downloading from the UK server. Local servers work way better, when they work, but it's very inconsistent. What servers are you guys using?

IS seems to have sorted itself out at around 3AM on my side, YAY! ^.^

I'm back up at 180... Beats 8kb... Sitting at the Lanseria waiting for my plane
