Openweb Uncapped Unshaped LITE vs Gold Shaped Uncapped

Hey guys,

Does anybody know what the difference is between the accounts? Why is the Gold Shapped 384kb R122 and the 4Mb R243 more for a shaped account?

Am I missing something here. Why would the Unshaped accounts be cheaper than the shaped accounts?
 
sorry but your post doesn't make sense.

care to maybe post links to the 2 accounts your talking bout?

a 384k line would obviously be cheaper in any sense.

I thought that it made sense :D

If you go to http://www.openweb.co.za/uncapped/ and select Uncapped LITE ADSL you will see on the right hand side that the 384 Lite Unshaped costs R196 and the 4Mb Lite Unshaped costs R495.
If you then select Gold Uncapped it will show that the Gold Shaped 384 costs R318 and the Gold Shaped 4Mb costs R738.

So any idea why shaped costs more?

notice why it didn't make sense?

well the GOLD seems to obviously be more for downloading, as with the LITE package it mentions that for heavy downloaders the GOLD would be more suited.

also the GOLD has lower contention ratio which is sometimes quite a big factor.
 
The shaped lite will throttle you if you dowbload too much. Not so with the GOLD.

Relax dude. I saw my mistake and that was the reason for the smiley, and this one ;)

Ok, so Gold is for downloading and Lite is for gaming and little downloadind.

Do you know what the average download amount is before shaping? Don't want to patch my TF2 or WoW and then get shaped at the beginning of the month.
 
Ya these top X% models are bull****, It's like saying we will shape you when you get to a percentage of something but we won't tell you what that something is! good luck.
 
ok well i had the lite uncapped 384kb when i started and to be honest that is for a school girl only doing research for school etc. because tryed playing games and my ping was at about 300ms on south african servers and 500-2000 on overseas severs. and downloading was just plainly suckass so i then contacted openweb to test the uncapped unshapped 384kb account and i ran a speed test at www.speedtest.net and got about 3.5Mb/s but the other account(LITE) i got about 0.2Mb\s - 0.4Mb\s so to and my ping has droped down to about 30ms to south african servers and about 200 for overseas servers so if you are into downloading and gaming the gold uncapped unshapped acount should be perfect and it has not droped ones since i got it that was 2 months ago..... so if you go for the gold account you can even get up to 3.5Mb\s and not 384 anymore as you will notice your downloads were runing at about 20Kb now it will run at about 200-350ps so realy go for the uncapped unshapped
