Openweb why is my internet dead again?

it is simple, I pay for a service I expect it to work.

Not someone else is downloading and using YOUR paid for bandwith. I don't want to spend hours sending suppport emails I just want to come online and use this service.

months now in the daytime I can not even LOAD local sites, My line is fine, i can load another account and as you can see that works cause here i am

this is just the start of the busy season for gamers, the downloads are going to go up so what does that mean for me? Should I just assume that browsing, youtube and gaming is going to be out until January?

FIX MY DAMN ACCOUNT, IT HAS BEEN 7 months now of this on off BS. I think that even at peak time a account CANNOT BE SHAPED TO DEATH. I too would like to use my internet.....

I've one 330 gigs this month on a 2mb line gold account.Erm what package you on? You do realise that business lines get priority during the day?Im an after hours user.

there has always been shaping during business hours as long as i have been with openweb. im on gamers king as well. during the day it behaves like standard uncapped. downloading on standard is non-existant tbh. after hours is supposed to be prioritized.

that being said the internet experience is not supposed to be affected by the shaping of other protocols. if this is the case they need to investigate your account.

I am trying to freaking open Gmail ffs, its back on now, without fail during the week daytime is disgraceful.

I know as a paying customer I am not entitled to answers, but I am entitled to vote with my wallet... maybe when I leave the network will get better because they clearly don't have to capacity to provide me what I am paying for.

In the end, it all boils down to I can't browse properly during the day. :wtf:

So is youtube shaped? Look you have to address issues on this, people complain and you have made many posts saying you don't shape youtube.

I don't mind the shaping but you need to make a post clearing the confusion. I am currently thinking of moving to telkom uncapped 4mbps as it costs a little more than my 2mb openweb account and my friend has not had one issue but he can at times be shaped badly however he has not ONCE had to wait on http.. EVER... and that over everything else having sites load quickly is the basis on what and why I pay for broadband. He also basically can always stream youtube 480p, regardless of how shaped everything else is.

Look here are the large issues:

1)webpages, even those basic html with a few pictures and that are local like news24, mybb and carbonite don't load or very slowly during the day.

Is this INTENDED? is this shaped?

2)Youtube, shaped or not during the day and to what extent?

3)Gaming, the rubberbanding even with a ping of 20ms means it has issues I have tried is,wage,mweb,igame servers they ALL do the same. It is sometimes better than others but it needs to be fixed. Don't even get me started on league of legends as I gave up on my clan weeks ago as I have to buy bandwith just to practice with them.


I have now confirmed the LINE is in perfect working order. The router has been changed from by fairly new billion to my 2 year old dlink and it is giving the same issues.

Right now it is peak time, thus shaping will be applied.

Downloads and heavy protocols will be shaped and slow.

We will be offering another unshaped experience tonight starting at 17:30 for Gold users and 19:30 for other users.

On what is the assumption based that the line is unstable? I called telkom and they told me the line is stable. I will plug in my spare router now, but if I can use afrihost right now perfectly why can't i use my openweb account?

Youtube is loading today, however so slow at 144p it buffers for long periods.

Your ADSL line is very unstable.

This relates to either a Telkom or router fault.

Kindly call Telkom on 10210 and have them test your line and router.

don't call his number, as when he is at work he can help with nothing.

it is STILL slow, 11:32 and pictures on news24 are not loading.... seems unstable.

I also can not play bf3 as it is rubber banding, it seems it is most of the openweb guys lagging on the igame/wage servers.
