Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising

marine1, im really enjoying the game! Awesome! But im struggling the balls off one of the missions, its the 3rd or fourth mission not sure, but you have to defend this small village against chinese attacks from the North, East and South, I keep getting overrun, any tips? Tricks? I keep dying alone in one of the houses with my squad wiped.

I played that one last night (on PS3). There is a building in the south, where you can walk to the first floor and then you have a slightly better view. I ordered my squad to defend the area by the house and then stayed in the house until the end and just shoot from the house.

This is where some squad members wondered away and got killed. If you look south you will see some tree lines on the right, just be careful some enemy troops walk around below the tree lines and take out your support from behind.

Got the game, was never a fan of previous titles, but this one is awesome!

Yea seriously I dont think alot of gamers out there really appreciate the tactical depth of this game, would have been nice if they could get some urban combat scenarios in there as well, what was that military game called where you focussed ALOT on squad tactics? It was a 3rd person shooter sort of hybrid on the original xbox.

Well I mean the game is geared towards a tight market of players, if you are into war simulators, the game is an absolute blast! Cant wait to finish the single player to get into some of the multiplayer co-op action.

Oh and another thing, these war sims usually sprout awesome online modding communities, so investing in something like this really pays off a few months down the line when people start getting really creative with the editors etc, thats a huge bonus towards a pc purchase of opflash DR.

So you run your entire life on what others tell you?

Must be bad not to try games/movies because they don't get 100 :D. Does this game have a local server running yet?

I don't expect them to get 100%, but with the price of games nowadays I can't afford to buy games that don't score incredibly highly at release anymore. If Borderlands or MW2 score more than 90% I'd rather buy those at release. And yes, I do decide based on other people's opinions. If more than three popular review sites give it a high score, then I'll buy it. Don't start a ridiculous little hatred campaign just because our views on piracy conflict. In a week I'll barely even remember that I had a row with you.

1. but we will.

2. you realize that a s3#*load of those sites are completely biased towards who pays them the most? Gamespot, Assassins Creed, Editor got FIRED, not warned, FIRED, for giving assassins creed less than 90 while Ubisoft had a background ad of it running on the site at time of release.

Dude this has nothing to do with piracy or hate, i was just wondering why you choose your games due to reviews.

Do you also not watch movies that other reviewers do not really like? It just seems crazy to miss good games due to reviews. I mean 70-80% across the board is pretty decent i think.

I want to like Flashpoint 2, but instead, I just feel like the game is telling me: "war is hell, sorry."

This guy gives it a bad score because war is hell, amazing. Not basing it on anything other than war is hell.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=224624 this site gives it 90 i mean you are basing your 80% on the average of 11 sites and a guy giving it 58% because war is hell drops the average badly.

hell, if I had to run around the block, and you gave me an M16, id probably end up shooting half my squad by accident!

70-80 isn't a bad score at all, but my budget only allows for about one game every two months, meaning that I'd rather wait for other big titles to come out and see how they fare, then decide which to buy. If Borderlands gets released and gets a average score of around 90 then I'd much rather buy that. If it doesn't do better than OFP 2, then I'll go for OFP. I've got exams now, so I can't play either of them for the next two months anyway.

Does anyone else feel that the graphics are awful? it is so unpolished, in fact it is one of the most unpolished games I've every played! . The textures are unbearable and the surroundings are also bad! For example, look at the gun and see if you can spot any texture at all! BTW playing on a GTX 260 with AA on 4X and playing at 1920X1080...

Meh, just wait a while for the patches to roll out. I actually expected this game to have its fair share of bugs. Hopefully the devs will start fixing the bugs and glitches as soon as possible.
