Orange enters Uganda Market
Despite a very competitive mobile service provider market in Uganda, new entrant Orange is confident it can gain market share in the East African country.
um, the telecoms market is already rather saturated for South Africa... we have a population of close to 50 million, we have Vodacom, MTN, Virgin(who aren't doing every well) and Cell C. that's already 4 suppliers... Vodacom and MTN pretty much are the two main rollers in South Africa... For another Cell provider to come into South Africa each companies market share will drop, and if say Orange Mobile does extremely well, then it will be Cell C and Virgin who will suffer...

I just don't think it would be economically feasible for these guys to come into SA. if the rest of Southern Africa was more economically powerful (and Zim wasn't the ***** hole of the earth) then it would make sense having all of us (SA, Namibia, Zim, Moz) have what Europe currently has as the population would be closer to 70m then.
But, if they try that, then they'll have to contend with MTN, who have been spending copious amounts of money on connecting Africa, and they've been seeing pretty decent yields.
Eh? Try Virgin, O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, 3 in the U.K with a population that is similar (I think) in the U.K not to mention the independents (ie: Lebara Mobile for one) Trust me your market is not saturated, if it was you'd be able to get a signal anywhere in SA. In my experience, in the boendoes, you struggle for a signal. When you can get signal every where by all providers your market is saturated IMO.
Zigackly...
As a drunken Obelix would say...
Recharge voucher - top up voucher - little difference.Recharge vouchers??? Wtf are those? Like credit top ups? Of R1-50? No lol minimum on pay as you go is ÂŁ5.

Seriously? R1-50 vouchers? Noooooo lol...Obelix drinks oo much...![]()

Yeah - but then again... even the poor as a sack of schit people there will totally eclipse the lower-medium spenders here. I highly doubt that you have 0.15 pound recharge vouchers in the UK...
Where are u getting at? Is that 0.15 an equivalent of R5 in SA? Well I have a problem with such a comparison. Look at it like this, those people who would only afford this type of voucher in SA would afford an entry level voucher in UK simply because their income will be slightly more compared to what they would earn while in SA - though the cost of living will be a bit higher than here in SA.
People will go to UK for a year or two to make moolah right? Say an IT technician for e.g. Yes they will more more moolah there but if they want to maintain the same standard of living they had in SA then they won't accumulate enough money as it would be more or less the same - costs wise.
This is just my opinion from my own frame of ref.
