Ordering beer at a London pub using an app

Many tourists who visit London are fascinated by the efficiency of the transport system, the grandeur of the buildings, or the resilience of the locals to a lack of sunlight.

On my recent trip to the United Kingdom, however, I was most impressed with a mobile app which allowed me to order food and drinks in a pub.

I've used the app more times than I can remember. Much more convenient than standing in queues.

Last time we were brought drinks and food we hadn't ordered... Ordered to our table, but meant for a different pub

Odd thing is, the app confirms multiple times that you are ordering for the correct pub based on location.

TBH, if a pub is so busy that I can't go to the bar and order a drink or flag someone to get a round, then its too busy for me. It's like Billy the Bums in durbs, utter chaos some nights, not my idea of a good time.

Used it many a time for drinks. Not so often for food though as my family like to make changes to their food orders...

For those that don't know, Wetherspoon's don't really have waiters. You go to the bar, state your table number and then give them your order. They "might" come clear your table when you're finished eating but i wouldn't hold my breath.

It's very convenient. Especially when the Wetherspoon's are packed so you don't have to queue to place your order.

still compared to someplace like Japan app based ordering is old technology.

best Ive seen is getting fresh food from a vending machine via an app.

I've seen plenty first-world tourists marvel at snapscan etc. Our payment systems are pretty much on par with most of the world.

but still many cashiers look at you strangely if you tap your phone to pay at a POS terminal, and then tell you its not NFC enabled.
