Oscar Pistorius: The Sentence

How does parole work with murder? Will he be eligible for parole in a few months time?

That am not sure of, hopefully someone with a legal background can shed some light on it..

6 years. What a joke.

So if you want to murder someone just make sure you have some sort of disability. Good to go.

Did she just wavered the minimum sentence for murder? This judge is a joke to our justice system would this now not mean this court case can be used in cases for new murderers to get the 6 years instead of 15 etc?

No, I see it as 5+6 = 11 years.

Not sure I quite agree. The following was on the news24 feed:

"In the result, the sentence I impose on the accused in terms of murder dolus eventualis, is six years imprisonment.

That tells me she is sending him to jail for 6 years.

I think it is just 6 years

That was my take too, he wasn't found guilty of Culpable Homicide and Murder, he was just found guilty of Murder - the Appeals court changed on to the other, so one sentence.

I didn't get that bit. He get's less than half the prescribed minimum because he showed remorse, and won't do it again?

And he's already "served" his first 5 years.

Now taking time served off of that, what does he get? And does time served include the parole/house arrest period? Clear as mud this.
