OT: ANC Elective Conference

This is good news right? Can't be worse than another Zuma. At least we are not subjected to 36 years of rule by this ******. Glad to see him go! Hope Cyril can lead a more honest cabinet.

These useless parasites of Shabangu, Yengeni, Mbalula have obviously accepted their nominations.

Now we get to see if the ANC have any teeth left when Zuma ignores the ANC constitution like he does the South African Constitution.

How many days before the ANC sends the rand back to 13+

That'll happen regardless. This Rand strengthening because of Cyril are traders taking advantage of n00bs forex trading. Less than 48 hours.

One bright side is that CR has the ear of the unions, so we might see him work those connections to get things rolling.

you might not like it if he's the president who finally gives the unions what they want like banning labour brokers and such

Because that would be a bad thing?

Being in construction, I’m all for banning them, they are parasites paying workers like slaves (and often late).

Amcu is allied to eff, not any of the other unions

Well sure not part of the tripartite alliance but the comment was 'unions' not Anc lapdogs like Cosatu, Amcu being a significant one just thought I would mention it.

They are given to unethical practices and sometimes outright borderline slavery, but some employers would sooner not take on new people if you take away the option. Best compromise would be better regulation of labour broking with functioning monitoring.

In most of our constructions sites, our subcontractors hire the workers (no brokers allowed), we go up to hiring some qualified workers for the duration of the project.

It would be a nightmare to monitor, DOL can’t even monitor the health and safety properly, if you add that, you’d need to double their staff.

I know of a city with major mines and smelters which has 1 DOL inspector, in 3 months of construction we haven’t had one visit, it’s ridiculous.
