OT: ANC Elective Conference

This two presidents thing is confusing.

Does ANC president have more power than SA president ?

Can Ramaphosa for example order Zuma to boot Gigaba and reinstate Gordhan ?

And - does Ramaphosa now not sit in Parliament ? He's still Deputy president of the SA so I presume he does.

Everything continues the way it was before, Zuma is still the Boss until he is recalled, Ramaphosa will need the support of DD and Ace to recall him.

1. Technically the ANC is elected, not Zuma.. irony is interesting as this is exactly what Zuma told Mbeki. From a Government perspective though, he who occupies the seat of president of country still dictates what happens to ministers.. but can be recalled if seen as disobeying his master (ANC president).

2. Yes but is technically only compelled to comply not legally required to do as requested. So Zuma can ignore until they, the ANC recall him as a result of disobeying him. This recall depends heavily on the make up of the NEC voting to remove him hence the top 60 make up is important.

3. Ramaphosa is deputy, already sworn and will remain so until elections.

Now while some analysts say it’s a tricky situation with Zuma and NEC not overwhelmingly under Ramaphosa control they forget one critical fact.. he has Zuma by the balls. He can now control parliament votes (members of parliament are paid by the ANC, not gov directly) but more importantly has to replace Shaun the sheep. The latter means Zuma faces an ever real jail cell along with his son. I think a deal will be struck but I’m hoping Zuma ignores it all and gets charged with corruption by NPA. <— that will trigger his recall and/or impeachment.

Remember if charges are filed, the ANC policy means that Zuma cannot hold gov office till cleared. This is why they were so eager to charge Pravin.

#StanMathabata confirms on @eNCA that around 50 of the #63 delegates whose votes have been sealed come from #Limpopo. Further that they were genuine delegates.
How can their votes be excluded?
#63votes
#ANC54

Also, CR17’s camp would apparently go to court.

That would mean no more Ace and Mchunu as SG instead.

Will the 68 disputed delegates be allowed to vote for NEC members. The balance of power in the NEC is key for Ramaphosa if he is to have any chance of taking the ANC in a new direction. The voting for the top 6 was very close and those 68 votes can be the difference between Ramaphosa being in control vs Mabuza having control of ANC.
