I am posting on behalf of someone with the following problem:

In Outlook 2003's "Internet Email Settings" dialog
Tools -> E-mail Accounts -> View or change existing e-mail accounts -> Change (there is only one email acc) -> More Settings ... -> Connection
I set the Connection to "Connect using my LAN", but Outlook keeps resetting it to "Connect using my phone line". Although there is a modem installed, it is not being used anymore as the person switched from dial-up to Telkom ADSL and connects with Ethernet -> Router -> ADSL line.

The reason I am posting under this Forum is that the person had dial-up before, and used it to connect to the internet through a phone line to his PCI 56k modem. Now, for some reason, Outlook reverts to those settings once in a while (every 2 weeks or so).

It works perfectly as long as it stays on "Connect using my LAN".

Yes I did. The Dial-Up connection is/should not be used anymore.

I know this sounds freaky but it might be a restore point issue? Try making a new one and seeing what happens. MS has some very dodgy ways of dealing with errors and the restore points sometimes seem to be a fall back option.... even though they say they're not unless requested.

I'd also suggest archiving and deleting/remaking the Outlook account...

The restore point issue is plausible. I'll try it, but the problem is that I have to wait a week or two before I know that it worked.

Check your connection settings in IE. - Don't worry about other browsers they may have.

Sorry, I quite forgot about this thread. And yes, for some reason it worked! Thank you all.
