Hi guys ;)

Long story short. Our company hosts with a well known ISP. We've got a US based package on Windows Servers.

We've logged tickets and tickets and then the problems just arise over and over.

I'm at my end with regards to extremely slow email throughput and I need some suggestions please.

Which reliable hosts can you recommend? It needs to be overseas hosting as local hosting is just too expensive for the volumes we push through.

We need Windows Servers and preferably about 100GB traffic and unlimited mail boxes.

If we require databases in future, we'd appreciate having it as an optional add on.

I've contacted Afrihost and their packages are fair, but I haven't received all the details I need yet.

To be honest, I think R800 for a reliable fast service is acceptable (overseas), but paying each month for these slow speeds is just a slap in my clients faces.

Thanks,
tera ;) :D ;p

Do you have to have Windows servers? Pity...

I bought a managed dedicated server from a company in the US for $155 a month. They have 24/7/365 support and I usually get an answer from them within 15 minutes of submitting a ticket.

Yes. Unfortunately it has to be Windows based. Thanks for the reply.

sorry i can't provide links or prices, but the Germans and French seem pretty good

Thanks anyway. Maybe some other folks can supply more info. I'll take a look at Hetzner's packages tomorrow. Maybe they have something worthwhile.

Afrihost is just plain silly IMHO.

We've got more than one domain, if we sign up with them, we have to create a hosting account for each domain  yeah...right... :p as if.

Godaddy.com? What about those Amazon S3 thingies? not sure if you can actually get a dedicated server on it. finally, what about RackSpace.com ?

I've only had problems with www.host4africa.com . Maybe take a look at www.mochahost.com . Their pricing is good and have given good service thus far. Must admit, we have only used the linux server, but would expect the same from the windows hosting.

Can I ask what type of issues did you have; as I've been hosting with them for many years and always received excellent support?

Regards

M

Sorry, might not be the same company. We had problems with Paradigm solutions (a Host 4 group company). Several domains where they never paid the domain renewal, so we 'lost' the domains for a while. Also just a lot of invoice problems.

I have tried many over the years and have finally rested here:

Webhosting - www.ixwebhosting.com
You will not get better value anywhere else

Dedicated Servers -
http://www.singlehop.com/
Their service is excellent! Really!

I was with Hetzner and will never go back! Singlehop is by far the best I have had so far!

As for South Africa...well dont even bother! You get 8 or more terrabytes of traffic included with your server, not like the measley 5 gigs here!!

i use the mosso cloud on Rackspace, i am very happy with it. they dont charge per domain you have, the charge for space. so the 50GB included you can put a lot of domains on there.

they have 24hour chat interface.

I run on IIs7 with them and sql server 2008, and i run 2 php scripts on the same domain. (very nice)

All for $100 p/m and its fast. very fast.

+1 - I use host4africa for a simple site and it's fine for that - what I like is the pricing though - around R200 for a year! It pays for itself in the first month of the year.

Oh my word. I pay so much for a little site and here I can host it for R9.99 a month! It's ideal for small sites. :D

There you go!

See... no need to be ripped off!

And when you get big or need to host multiple sites, look at Ixwebhosting! For US$12 a month, I get 1 terabyte of bandwidth and may host as many websites as I like all with dedicated IP's as well as using any third party software that I want!

Thanks Nutty Grandad. :D I'm very impressed with what I learned today. I've been hosting for years at the same place without ever looking anywhere else. I am surprised at how much I've been ripped off.

I see someone mentioned Mochahost as well. Also great prices. I reckon I'm going to look for a different host now. I've paid up until next year March though, so I'll change over then.

These are really great prices. :D
