Paarl Solar Installation

You'd look at that profile pic and still ask for nudes. I think the head shot is fine in this case. We should waiver pics.

Mind sharing the contractor used? I need to get quotations for our Body Corporate in Stellenbosch area.. not sure exactly who to approach for this?

  • Good day - any further updates on how the system is performing and lessons learned? I am around the corner in Somerset West and have also been going back and forth on when/if to pull the trigger on doing the install.
Hi Glenn,

The system has performed exactly as hoped for so far:
8kw Sunsynk Inverter
2 x 5.12KWH Hubble AM-5's
15 x 500w JA Solar panels

May was decent in terms of sunny days, produced 439kwh (10 x panels from 6 May - 17 May, 15 x panels 17 May - 31 May). Definitely not optimised as best I could have, BUT, not a single sessions load shedding since 6 May:)

System tripped once, when domestic decided to turn on both geysers, toaster and iron...I have purchased, but not installed, 3 x CBI Astutes, will then also pair with Home Assistant to control for optimal usage/control.

Have not been regretting the decision once, if finances allow and you have done all your research, my suggestion would be to do it. The savings and gamification are cool, but the mental bandwidth my system has free'd up has been the biggest upside.

Good luck

Jonker Industries - pretty happy with everything. As with all contractors, communication could be slightly better. But cost wise, etc., they were very fair. They are a father and son operation, did everything themselves, the old man did major PV farms in the NC before coming to help his son.

I have yet to get mine to come round and do the install of the single panel I bought. Will provide feedback afterwards.

If you want to get something bigger and pay a bit more, I had good service from Alumo in terms of a site visit and getting a quote.
Cool banananas
Keep us posted
Maybe even a Youtube video

Nice! Always good to hear about reputable installers.
When are you filming the install? We don't want to see you in the mountains on a bicycle for 46 minutes with a go pro in your mouth on a windy day. Please film the solar install.
