A British paedophile was reportedly killed and "disembowelled" by fellow inmates in a Durham prison cell.

Mitchell Harrison was reportedly killed with makeshift weapons — thought to be fashioned from razor blades and toothbrush handles — at the Frankland Prison.

The 23-year-old was serving a four-and-a-half-year sentence for raping a 13-year-old girl.

"To all intents and purposes he had been disembowelled. There was blood everywhere. We believe something was said between the men that sparked it off but we are still trying to work out the exact chain of events," a source told the Daily Mail.

Two inmates were charged with murder.

According to the police, Harrison died of "multiple injuries".

Criminology expert Professor David Wilson told the Daily Mail that the nature of the attack was significant.

"If you are disembowelling somebody, you are defiling their body. It is what you might call 'ritualistic slaughter'.

"The question is, how can something like this take place in Frankland and why didn't the staff protect him?"



the justice system couldn't keep him safe in prison either. word gets out i guess, even in prison.

Guys paedophilia while definitely disgusting is often something wrong psychologically with that person that is very hard for them to control, think of something like a drug addiction. He didn't deserve to die, especially like that.

I'm no shrink, but the fact that many paedophiles were themselves molested in their youth suggests the disorder is not due to some brain malfunction.

Certainly they 'suffer' from a psychological disorder but as far as I know they are aware that what they do is wrong - although they will claim any number of reasons why they are either not responsible or that the victim him/herself was to blame.

so who did this man kill then? a life for a life, not so? peadophile or not, he did not "deserve" this death.

what about the victims of this person's actions? do they get to continue their lives in any sort of normality? this goes back to a serial killer blaming his upbringing on his actions. there are many other people who suffer at the hands of molesters, abusers etc and they don't turn out to be pedophiles or serial killers.
