Panasonic LED TV HDMI Board Replacement

Recently, my Panasonic Viera TH-49DS 49inch LED TV was hit by a rogue lightning bolt and the HDMI + Comp inputs were fried. The rest of the TV still works just fine -> streaming etc all ok

Whilst doing some research, it doesn't look like changing the HDMI input board is such a crazy difficult DIY problem. Biggest issue I am facing is in finding the bloody replacement board as Panasonic SA can't seem to help.

Does anyone know whether it's possible to actually source those pesky boards locally or is import the only way?

Good luck with that. The second hand market is ruled by Samsung,Hisense and Sinotec. I'd advise your next purchase to be one of them as it really helps when your TV gets old or faulty. Where (online/traditional) did you buy it? And when?

Our Hisense 65" got struck in the same way. TV worked perfectly but not HDMI.

Every place I phoned was like "yeah good luck, just do an insurance claim and throw it out"

Which is what I landed up doing.

Not always an assurance of parts. TV’s are very disposable these days.

Have you tried googling the part number of that board? See if its on Ebay etc?

They sell pretty well overseas since people there still prefer to buy quality products such as Sony/Panasonic.

Our 32 inch 2011 Samsung has some motherboard keeping it going after it got struck by lightning a few years back, It'd have been in the dump by now if it was a Panasonic.

Take a good quality picture of the board and do a reverse image search for it on Google..

This is likely to bring up a lot more information about the board, like where it was made, name/model number of board and if it had been used by any other TV brands, which could prove useful in hunting one down locally..

Even Google the board/model/part number may help..

I still suspect that you are going to end up importing it though but, worth the above exercise first..

Sure, Purely coincidence that probably close to 90% of City lodge group hotels (40+ locations) only use Panasonic inverter air conditioners and the rest Daikin.

We really don't have much brand exposure in SA except for Samsung, LG and Chinese brands Travel to Japan and Europe and look what they use. A Toilet does things I didn't even know a toilet should be able to do
