Panel Beating Costs??

Polish and then reassembly if the panel/part was stripped off the vehicle. They use fast drying 2k paints and UV lights or heat so drying time isn't the issue..

Eish I wish tomorrow I can get my car I'm really struggling here.

I just want to ask when a car goes in for repair at the panelbeater, do they charge the insurance for storage it's a second week my car went for repair at a panel beater.

Yesterday morning I called the panelbeater spoke to some guy at the workshop. He said they going to polish the car and put the mirror cover, then the car will be ready for me to come fetch it. That was yesterday morning around, 09:20 am I have not heard anything since then.

They'll only charge for storage if the job has been completed and the car is left there.

If it's actively being worked on how do you reckon they can charge you for storage for work they are completing on the car?

And why don't you just call them again instead of waiting?

Two weeks for a panel beating job isn't outrageous.

Exercise patience when your car is with a panelbeater. These shops are notorious for not sticking to deadlines.

My wife's Vivo has been in repairs from Valentines Day. Was supposed to be 2 weeks for repair. Car only came out of panelbeating yesterday.

You don't really want to rush them as you want the job done properly. After painting they still need to refit everything. Check if the panels line up. Polish. And their QC processes.

I guess you are correct when I took my car in they said it will only take a week. I don't want to call them every day, like you said I want them to do a proper job even though I'm struggling.

Around lunch time got a message from them that the car is at assembling. So I guess tomorrow they will polish it.

If you have insurance report it to them and let them handle it.

Even if you don't want to claim from insurance, report it to them.

If you don't they could repudiate any of your claims later down the line...
Hi..can u plz elaborate on this ..excess insurance is paid every month, so if customer goes later and tells them that accident happened at a later date, cant he get the claim then..what's the problem in that...?..bcoz if he goes at time of accident, insurance company might ask to take the vehicle back and customer night not be able to use vehicle for that time..

But in your case there was no third party involved, correct? (It was only your car and the curb, surely?)
Yes. Good point .actually, I left the car for parking somewhere and when i came back , dent was there..so I think i might say that it was caused by third party..but now, i think that even if someone driving crashes into pole etc, he should say another car crashed into it, bcoz that will be counted as third party..

Nope!

When a third party is involved, there are time limits that apply!

Examples:

Following the collision/incident, each party only gets 24 hours from the time of the incident to file a police report. (This is the only way to obtain a case number.)

Panel beaters don't really beat the panels anymore, they just replace it. I would guess new door and paint ~R20 000

A guy reversed very lightly into my Suzuki right side doors. The damage was more than R40 000 it's ridiculous.

The new cars are unfortunately a bunch of tin containers, panel beating in its actual sense no longer applies, it's a matter of replacing panels.

Plus the plastic trim inside is ready to crack when you look at it funny, never mind putting a hand on it.
