Nope sorry, I see that's tomorrow 31 Jul.

Today Paige Bedenhorst will be in the women's single sculls QFs at 10am though.

I guess since Sentech carries some of eTV's channels it's worth a look around there. Just need to find a tool that picks up the streams' URLs.
Or wait for OpenView to possibly start streaming.. ?

They have been building a massive sewage overflow mitigation system in Paris to try clean the Seine river up so not quite the same as the Thames.

waste of money honestly, as the seine was used for years as a garbage dump, same like the ganges river, for different reasons,
what I cant understand is why cant they do the event somewhere else in France

It’s awesome what they are doing, swimming in the Seine was a popular pastime for Parisians till the early 19th century and they want to bring that back after the games.

Basically they have built an enormous storage vessel for sewage over flow. The sewers in most cities around the world have their storm water and sewage water system in one sewer which then gets sent to the treatment plant. The problem starts when there's heavy rain and the sewer capacity get overwhelmed and the over flow including sewage gets sent into the rivers because that's all they can do with it but if they have storage vessels the overflow can rather accumulate there and then be pumped down to the treatment plant once the storm has subsided.

Im all for them cleaning a iconic river through the center of paris, problem comes when you spend billions on a project that will take a few decades to show results,

meanwhile the eyes of the world is on your city and you have to do a trialthlon swim through a sewer, when you could have just relocated the event somewhere else more scenic and beautiful away from stinky Paris and its sewers.

nobody tries to clean up the Thames river, same as the Ganges river or any iconic rivers running through major cities,
everybody knows it will take decades and loads of cash to do it properly or for those rivers to be considered safe for Human activities.

Can't just pack up and move an entire triathlon event to another part of the city. They have to close down entire parts of the city for the running and cycling parts. Would be a nightmare.

If the water quality doesn't improve the triathlon will be turned into a duathlon without the swimming. Marathon swimming which is also supposed to be in the Seine will then be moved to the rowing venue.
 
@BBSA how's the BBC i-Player use been for you? I'm surprised to say that the DStv streams have been reasonable, just buffering us back to about 40 seconds delay when busy but few interruptions. SABC too, they seem to like a 1 minute gap.

The few times we used it to watch the Olympics, we didn't notice any problem. Also found SABC's stream is a minute or so behind. The only one we found a problem with was the Olympic Channel on NBC, it buffered a few times. But the USA Network didn't.

I'm actually not using it atm, I'm mainly enjoying the olimpic on sky sport NZ and EuroSport.

I just mentioned the iPlayer as an alternative.
 
Eish, Paige Badenhorst didn't fair too well in her sculls QF. Finished 4th, well off the pace.

But she's still moving on to the SF. You never know, the other rowers could all have a bad day haha
