Thinking of going to parkrun this Saturday, I usually listen to music while running - is this allowed, because some events apparently don't permit headphones, etc.

I think it is allowed for parkrun. The distance of 5km means it falls outside ASA regulations. Any event longer than that requires an ASA license and then the standard rules apply, such as no headphones. Same goes for cycling, but I can guarantee you now come Sunday I will be seeing many riders on the CTCT with headphone and Bluetooth speakers, and it's all just good fun.

The ones I've been to are pretty chill and they wont mind but some crossed roads etc where it wouldn't be advisable so I would say it depends on the venue.

They generally don't care just make sure you can still hear what's going on around you and be courteous to others
100% agree. I quite often do the parkruns with my little one and it can be tough navigating the pram if others cant hear

Good to know, I have open ear bone conduction earphones for running, so I can hear the world around me just fine.

Yeah, can't see it being in issue, been to quite a few different events and never heard it mentioned. Parkruns are by their nature, run on property without road crossings or public roads so it takes the traffic danger out if it.

The only time where it might be an issue is on a two lap course and you have the quick guys passing, and peeps need to be able to hear "passing right".

Even that will not be an issue if you keep practicing the moves that will prevent them from passing you at all!

Parkruns in Australia start at 7am instead of the 8am like the ones in SA. Its a bit of a pain in the winter!!
Its quite nice having so many around though, can be a real Parkrun tourist around here.
