Parlotones on iTunes

yeah I think this SWC opening concert did a lot for them- there were so many comments on youtube from new fans from all around the world. good luck to them!
 
Have you really "made it" if you're having to give your music away for free.
 
Another over-rated band - they're ok, but I can't understand the fuss that goes with them. :whistle:
 
Is there anything the Parlodrones are NOT on. FFS. Bland as my gran's kitchen wall paper and as exciting as her hip replacement op. K@k band.
 
I saw on the back of PC Format "The Parlotones recommend Gigabyte". Well if they recommend them they must be good hey, what with all their intimate knowledge of laptops...
 
Just saw Kurt Darren is on iTunes too. So you can't get iTunes music in SA - who the hell is buying this?
 
I know they are local and all but really they are rather an annoying group... aggressive Coldplay-esque marketing but very little cake to go with all that icing... cannot bear the eye thing he does when performing, just reeks of amateur dramatics...

Also: they seemed to really come out of nowhere on a wave of expensive marketing - did they actually pay their dues touring clubs etc? If so: who even knows about that?

It just doesn't sit well...

Dude, if you are producing music that anyone actually chooses to listen to you are well on your way... getting those people to pay is the next step.
 
A lot of local bands there, they've been there for a while.

Locals with a US store account like myself?(not that I buy Kurt Darren)
 
It's actually really easy to get on itunes, my band is also on itunes, it's just a bit of admin and a small joining fee, basically anyone can do it :-)

Yeah I was thinking of doing the same a while back, iTunes is great for the indie scene.

no it was a lot of work for them to get where they are- my boets band recorded their first CD at the same time the parlotones were recording theirs back when no one knew them, so we watched them with interest through the years, and yeah they did the whole club thing. In fact one of the guys was saying that if he knew before hand how much work it took to get to the point where they can do this full time and how many sacrifices they had to make in terms of relationships etc, he was not sure he would have dont it. Now its obviously all worth it, but they put in a LOT of time and effort to get where they are today.

Erm, the amount of money you get is in no way proportional to the quality of your music. There is some really excellent music out there on the free sites. parlotones sux though.

My point is that doing so is illegal. According to Apple, only residents of the select 21 countries may use iTunes for music. SA is not one of them.

A pity they invested all of that time and still suck.

But hey, as the old saying goes; The masses are asses.

When I think of the hype surrounding The Parlotones, I get nauseated and think of another SA band I despise, but the majority of the country seem to "love" - Prime Circle :sick:
